Hi everyone, so I have a 1999 2.4 Tacoma, and the old AC Compressor blew up. I bought new AC Compressor from Ebay and installed it.

    Ebay link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/A-C-AC-Com...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Upon finishing the installation, I found out that the connector on the new AC Compressor is a wrong type of connector, so I cut that one off and wired the old OEM AC Compressor connector into place.

Now after I finished everything, I started up the car and pressed the AC button in the dash, and the green light didn't come up as it was supposed to be. However, I thought maybe because the system doesn't have any pressure yet.

I then brought it to the shop to recharge, and they said even after the system has pressure, the new AC Compressor just doesn't turn on. So now, I don't know if it is the bad AC Compressor or just the job that I did when welded the OEM connector in place. What should I do to check it now?

    Thanks everyone for your help.

    I worry about a $100.00 Ebay Compressor

Just what did you change you say you both wired and welded??

    The clutch electrical connector??

When you say your old compressor blew up what kind of failure ??

The new Compressor spun free before installing??Did you check the clutch engaged ??

What other parts of the system did you change at least the dryer ??

The people that charged the system How long did they pull a vacuum ??

What were the system pressures after it was charged ?? Not much you can do without knowing your high and low pressure

    Have you checked the fuses

Step by step through the electrical of the AC system

So my old compressor was kind of blew up. Smoke came out from it, and the clutch on it couldn't spin at all. This new compressor has a wrong type of clutch electrical connector, so I cut it off and welded the old OEM connector in place, but it was a little damaged since this truck is closed to 300k miles and had like 3 or 4 different owners in the past.

The clutch on the new compressor is spinning very nicely and smoothly. I didn't change any else but the AC compressor. The shop that did the recharge for me didn't tell me how much pressure there is in the system right now, but they said it's not too much since the compressor does not turn on, so they can't put more ac refrigerant. I just bought another new clutch electrical connector and will try to weld it in place and see if the compressor would have power or not.

    The new connector: https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-A-C-Co...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

I didn't check the fuse, and I don't know which one is the AC fuse because it doesn't have any ac label on the fuse cap. It would be awesome if someone can help me to point it out.

I'm planning to get the compressor on and see how much pressure in the system, then I can come back to the shop and ask them to fill if it's low.

In summary: the AC button in the dash doesn't light up when I press it because, I guess, there is no power to go to the compressor. I guess it will light up green if the compressor has power come in.

    Thank you for the help.
