    2017 manual here.

Yesterday, my backup camera stopped working. I have the anytime camera mod with a front facing camera installed. My front facing camera works when I press the switch. The rear camera does not when in reverse or activating the switch. The screen just turns black when I try either.

    Troubleshooting:
    1. I took out the headunit and inspected all the wiring.
    2. I disconnected the 3 pairs of RCA cables and reconnected them.
    3. I tried removing the anytime camera harness and replacing it with the original factory harness into the headunit.
    4. I tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.

After the attempted troubleshooting, now my front facing camera stopped working as well. The switch button for both front and rear light up when I press it but nothing comes in screen. When I shift into reverse, there's a beep as usual but the screen doesn't change. Before, it would turn black. Now, it just remains on whatever screen I'm currently on.

    Any ideas?

The controller is not getting image voltage. Reboot the ecu. Continue to look for loose wires. Switch front and back to confirm switch behavior or to rule out camera fault. Plug in another video source. If not a loose wire or the camera itself the controller might be cooked.

How should I do that? By disconnecting the negative for 15 minutes or disconnecting the ECU fuse for 5 minutes?

i just tried both of those methods. Pulled the EFI main fuse and the negative battery terminal. The camera switch and reverse does not change the screen. It remains on the screen I'm on.

I’m having this same issue. I’ve done all of the above and checked connections at least 5 times with no luck. Black screen when shifting into reverse, and black screen when pushing the button. On mine, if I push the switch for reverse on and off multiple (multiple) times it will eventually work in both modes. When shifting in reverse and when pushing the button. Sometimes this fix lasts a few days sometimes weeks. I eventually swapped out the switch with a friends that hasn’t installed the kit yet and I had no issues. (Used for a month) When I put mine back in I’ve experienced the issues I encountered before. I going to replace the switch and see if that fixes the issue permanently.

OP, when you tried #3 in your list, are you sure you removed everything and set back to totally stock? The anytime camera harness is really not well designed, it was a home mod someone posted here that someone put into production probably without really understanding electronics. Totally fine as a home mod as you can fix it when it has issues, but IMO not an electronic design that should be sold.

Also on #2 why 3 pairs of RCA cables? Front and OEM rear camera would only need 1 set of RCA cables, OEM not using RCA and then RCA for the front camera.

i only removed the harness that came with the kit and put the original harness back into the headunit. i did not disconnect anything else when trying this.

There's 3 pairs of yellow RCA. Here's the guide showing 3 as well.
    https://www.anytimebackupcamera.com/blogs/install-help/component-diagram

that's a weird thing to break. I also contacted anytime backup camera through their website to see their input.

So I spent 33 minutes on the phone with Brian from anytime backup camera. He walked me through several troubleshooting steps before asking me to check the wiring harness under my bumper. As it turns out, my wiring harness to the backup camera was cut. Since doing the ECU reset didn't detect a rear camera, the front stopped working as well.

As for the cut, it looks too precise of a cut to be by an animal so I would assume it was done by a low life. I re-soldered the wires back together and did another reset by disconnecting the negative. This got both my front and rear cameras working again.

Thank you Brian. Top notch support.

Interesting. My camera has intermittent issues. Sometimes the screen goes dim / fuzzy. Sometimes just completely just blacks out. I have a different kit but I should check my wiring back there.

Brian had me check the wiring harness because apparently it's quite common for animals to chew through it. Didn't expect it to be cut.

I have a 2017 manual truck too. Had rodent damage to engine wires twice last month and repaired both times for almost $2k. Now I have a similar issue with my backup camera. The truck won’t beep when shifted to reverse and the OEM screen will not switch to the camera view. Was your issue resolved. I don’t want to go back to the dealer for the third time in 1 month.

Might be the reverse wire at the transmission chewed off.

They showed me a pic using a bore scope. There is wire that is cut on top of trans. The wires go under some type of heat shield. Right now it is just an estimate. I’ve already spent $1700 repairing the engine wires twice last month. I don’t park im my driveway anymore. Except for two days ago and my backup camera conveniently wouldn’t turn the next day.

Warm up truck. Shut off everything and shut down. Pull the ECU fuse. Wait 5 minutes. Put back, run for ~5 minutes until the tach settles in to normal idle without touching the throttle or anything thing else. This should establish a baseline.

Reading your thread, the controller may be cooked. Did you try bypassing it first?
