Bought it with 3" lift and xd rims wrangler tires
2009 TRD sport. I am getting the blue screen on the mirror. At first slamming the tailgate would bring it back. Now just blue screen. I checked the wiring connections. I am showing continuity on tailgate harness. I am getting voltage readings at the camera plug. Low voltage : 1.8. I got a new OEM camera still nothing. I have power to reverse lights. Is it the mirror itself? Can I check that before buying new?

My backup camera works... But the picture is all grainy, switches to black and white, cuts in and out...

    2010 with video in mirror.

Anyone else ever have this issue.

I haven't tried to diagnose yet... Was looking for the TW easy answer.... Or possible answers.... Lol

I think there have been confirmed poor internal camera connection points inside the camera itself or the the small harness which actually connects to the camera itself.

I have had issues with the OE camera in the past as well describing what you had above but it somehow worked itself out and hasn't happened after it's episode of flare ups it had a few years ago.

We're you saying it is a connection in the camera or a connection to the camera? Lol I was considering buying a new camera.... Try for an easy fix. I hate just replacing parts.... Unless it's an easy try....

There is a molex harness that connects at the camera to something else. It's been a while since I dismantled it all but it is a small 4 wire tiny harness inside of the tailgate that hooks up directly to the camera. Either that is bad or something inside of the camera itself is bad. I replaced the camera once as well and still had the issue occurring so I'm positive it's gotta be the small harness because all other wiring tested out fine and I'm sure yours would also continuity wise.

The camera gets its power FROM the mirror. It should be 6vdc. There are some old threads around that might help you out. I had a 2009 that did not come with the optional mirror that includes the rearview display. But my truck did have the OEM camera and harness. In 2014 I replaced the factory HU with a touchscreen display and connected the pre-existing wiring to it. I had to build a 6vdc power converter for the camera, which I mounted behind the driver side kick panel.
