I have a 2015 Tacoma and installed a Kenwood 4707s using the install kit specific for the head unit and the truck.

Everything works great besides the backup camera. It recognizes when the truck goes into reverse but the screen says "No Video Signal".

It worked with the factory radio and I tested the head unit by hooking a DVD player to the camera-in plug and when I put it in reverse I can see the DVD player on the screen.

I have done a lot of googling and am a little lost on this, was hoping someone on here might have some theories.

No, I thought that you may have been relying solely on a Metra kit or something. I can’t help much with the Crux kit, not familiar at all. Maybe our resident installer @destin_meeks can help.

I would double-check that you plugged the yellow RCA into the correct jack on the back of the radio. Most head units have an input AND an output and you can easily plug your camera into the wrong one.

once you know for sure you’re in the correct jack, we can go from there if you still don’t get a video signal. But you’ll need a multimeter at that point

It's plugged into the correct input. I tested it by plugging a DVD player into the same port, put it in reverse and the DVD image showed up on screen. I talked to crutchfield and they are pretty stumped. Thinking maybe something was wrong with the kit so they are sending me out a new one.

i'm seriously questioning whether that adapter powers up the camera.

here's the mostly-useless 'manual', which is more of a sales brochure:
    https://cruxinterfacing.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/SWRTY-61N_MANUAL-3-8-21.pdf

it's 'supposed' to be simple, plug-n-play, but in the process of them attempting to make it look simple, they obfuscate the details needed to determine if it's powering up the factory backup camera, which is necessary as the oem head unit that was removed used to provide the power to it.

the swrty-61n module appears to have some sort of voodoo in it. though most of that voodoo seems to be related to the steering wheel controls. they make an indication of a breakout of the 21 pin connector for 'something' going into that swrty-61n module, as well as a video breakout. but there's not enough detail to determine if the 6v supply is now in the swrty-61n module.

my suspicion is that module is just a fancy steering wheel controller adapter only, and you'll require a separate 6v power adapter for the reverse camera to get it to power on.

That’s how the Metra-axxess version is. You need the harness AND the SWC module AND the 6v camera power harness

I am very out of my element here, so I don't know anything about any of this but Crutchfield swears that is handled in the 24-pin connector. I even asked them if I needed an additional step-down from 12 to 6 volts adapter and they said I do not.

i really think they're mistaken. i see no indication in the crutchfield pictures, or that documentation that would show a voltage regulator if it's not part of the 'magic black box' that i already doubt does any other function outside of steering wheel controls.

this is what i used to power the camera and get the video signal out:
    https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item-192845-Axxess-AXBUCH-T36V.html

at least wait for the replacement to come and try it, but i won't be shocked if it all works the same as the last one.

next step would be to break out the volt meter and check for 6v anywhere within that harness. but don't expect it'll be there.

I’m going to ask a question that I didn’t see mentioned in the original post

Was the factory camera in the radio screen or the mirror

It was in the radio screen.

My friend that helped me said the same thing. Try to install the new one they send and if that doesn't work, break out the multi-meter. I thought the same as you that maybe it didn't include everything but if you look at the reviews on this exact kit they are full of comments that say "worked perfectly, steering wheel controls and backup camera work".

So we learned more about the harness and figured out the problem. Circled in this picture is the capacitor that steps down the voltage. In the original harness they had the wrong capacitor so the camera was not getting enough voltage. Once we swapped it out with the correct one on the new harness they sent out, the camera works perfectly.

I have to call out something:
Capacitors do not step voltage down or up.
You drop voltage with ether resistors and/or voltage regulator ICs, then a cap to smooth the voltage ripple out

I know nothing about electronics so I am sure I am using all the wrong terminology.

I know this is an old post but I have just installed a Pioneer DMH-2770NEX on my 2017 Tacoma SR5 with non JBL entune. I did ordered and installed the PAC RP4.2-TY11 and CAM-TY12 and a parking brake video bypass. I hooked up all (according to me correctly :)) but the issues I have is my stock OEM camera turns black when in reverse and another issue is my steering wheel controls don’t work right. The volume up works but not the volume down which somehow is handle in the skip song button. Any ideas what’s wrong with it?
