This issue just started. When I put it in reverse it detects an object and triggers the alarm. Truck is a 2018.

    what’s the fix?

Do you have anything blocking the sensors or have you made any changes to how the beeps function?

But did you go out and physically check the sonar sensors?

Thirded. Clean & check sonar. Make sure its plugged in.

Failing that, just turn off sonar until you get it fixed. Its the button that says "P."

I’ve had a aftermarket step on my receiver hitch for the last 4 years and it never affected the sensor alarm. I removed it and the sensor worked fine. Reinstalled and it triggers the alarm again. I just adjusted the step to a lower position, haven’t checked it yet.

I think I read in another thread someone having same difficulty and culprit was salt and water incursion in the wiring I believe at the connector of the sensor. Good luck.

Did you ever find the fix for this?

I was just rear-ended yesterday, ironically by another 3rd Gen Tacoma. After the “tap” that my trailer hitch received my back-up sensor has a constant beep (like you are super close to something).

Have your frame, hitch and sensors checked. Something is bent or a sensor is damaged

You may get quotes to properly fix, it might have you filing a claim against their insurance. Especially if you have BSM.

    disconnect battery for 10, or
    check sensor plugs, or
    turn off. or
    take to shop
