Everyone has that problem. Look at the camera in the tailgate handle. Its physically off center. There's no way to correct that.

Edit: Short of relocating the camera.

Weird! Is it a manufacturing problem? I wonder if toyota would fix it.

There's nothing to fix... the camera is not located in the center of the tailgate, so there's no way to "center" the camera image. The only thing Toyota could do, is redesign the handle, so that the camera is centered. And no, Toyota is not currently working on that... I have it on good authority. :gossip:

Oooohhhhh ok I gotcha. I thought it was OP's unique problem. I guess I never paid much attention to that. Thanks!

While you're at it... make the camera rotatable, so you still have a functioning camera when the tailgate is down.

I only noticed it was off after my accident and after i got it back from the collision center. Was paranoid about every little thing.

Yes, but notice in your picture that the camera is offset to the left (the driver's side). However, the image in the OP is offset to the passenger side. (Mine is the same way.) The location of the camera would not account for this. Perhaps Toyota is trying to center the image, but is overcompensating.

Anyway, it is what it is.

$300 really isn't bad for a plug-n-play solution. though they technically only make it for the tundra.

i saw that one a while back. it's on my to-do list to try to copy with a $40 Amazon camera and a mercury switch...

Yea, as long as you can make a harness for it I don't see any issues. If you want a copy of the installation instructions let me know.

Or if you want their license plate frame camera you can have it, I'm not using it.
