I like the bench when I fold the back seats but it makes it pretty tight for the front seats.

What do you find best for you, day to day? Back seats down? Back seats removed?

    Why? Let’s hear it!

I removed only the bottom seat portions of the rear seats and just keep the back parts folded down. Gives me a nice flat surface to put shit on with enough room for miscellaneous gear and a small tool box on the floor. This has been the most useful setup for me lately.

mine will get the seat part removed in the near future, and backs & headrests near the end of the summer when I have space & time to work some magic on the rear wall (sound deadening & panels). all part of a larger storage project before next winter.

If I didn’t anticipate ever using the rear seats, then I’d remove them and build a platform to get more space like I did for my fridge.

The front of the shelf is secured by the seat hinge and the rear is secured to the rear seat belt mounts using arb fridge straps.

I keep the rear seats folded down. I cut a rubber mat from Home Depot to keep things from moving around. Tons of storage space.

Toyota is missing a market for a rear mat made out of the no-slip bed mat material.

As others have mentioned, I removed the headrests and seat portion of the rear seats from my Tacoma.

I am able to slide the front seats rearward a bit for more leg room up front. There is also more free space on the rear floor behind the front seats to put small items.

The flat bench of the folded down back seat is the right height for loading and unloading cargo. Also, makes it easier to lift up the bench to access the storage compartments on the floor.

Canny solution! Curious - are the contents of the fridge accessible enough? I assume there's a bit of awkwardness accessing the whole thing, but may be wrong.

It opens up pretty well and isn’t too awkward to use. It’s plenty easy enough to take out a six pack of beer bottles. But your right, it’s just a tad too tight to open it enough to pull the inner tray out.

This is the 50 qt. The 37 quart would be no trouble at all.

On my long term plan, is to remove the larger bench leaving the single, then making a platform with a slide so a fridge would extend out the passenger side door.

I usually have mine folded down in my double cab for the dog, but fold them up when driving solo. I find the cab quite noisy if there down with nothing back there.
