I put a seat protector down to protect the leather. Took off the middle head rest and put seat in middle. Happy travels!

edit: chose middle because as they get older they want to kick and push their feet into the back of your seat. Middle solves that issue. Just don’t have any drinks in that cup holder behind the console or they’re getting the boot too!

Recommend you get a topper. Your public Facebook shaming can't go viral if the folks behind you can't get a good photo.

Double oe single cab? Assume double. Its tighter they any car but it works asuming your normal pasanger seat person is not tall

I have an almost 3 year and the wife at 5ft 4 is tight but workable. If she was 5 ft 8. Ya not so good.

Old jeep grand cherokee or my honda acord. Lot more room available

I'm assuming newborn? I can't give advice on newborn seats, but I do have a rear facing Britax Marathon clicktight behind my driver's seat and I am able to put it all the way back. That is with it sitting more upright for my 2 year old. As others have noted, using the middle seat is ideal (safest and the most room), just be aware that you SHOULD use the seatbelt to secure the seat and you SHOULD NOT use the anchors when using the middle seat. The anchors are for the outside positions and do not work correctly in the middle.

Bolt the car seat down in the bed.

Screaming, crying, spills, kicking, smells (diaper fills)......etc will all be easy to clean up and allow a peaceful drive.

As I recall the requirements are for the car seat to be mounted near the center of the vehicle. Don't recall anything about needing to be in passenger compartment.

Trust me....the little critters can trash the back seat in a matter of seconds, regardless of their age. They are a mess looking for a clean location.

If needed, you could mount a seat in the bed for the caregiver.

Didn't the Subaru Brat have a couple of seats in the bed????

In my 2006 Tacoma, I have my 4 year old's seat mounted in the middle. I have every possible strap cinched down tight so that it's a bitch to remove, which I like. With my new 21 Tacoma coming in, I'm thinking about moving her to the passenger side. Still on the fence. But with the comments in this thread, i may stick with it in the middle. I will echo the comments about the mess. My girl is a walking pig pen of paper wrappers, spilled liquids, and anything else you can think of. I went ahead and bought a rear Covercraft cover, to just cover the whole damn back. I also bought a seat back protector, as she too likes to kick the back of the seats, even sitting in the middle.

gotta keep the little one's safe, but still want to keep my truck perty!!

Some of y'all need a minivan. No one cared if the kids spilled milk and cheerios in the back of the Aerostar. It already came standard from the factory smelling like that.

Do yourself a favor and get a Doona. A little pricey, but man is it worth it. Travel system car-seat, but no stroller to plug it into. Just squeeze the button, pop the wheels out and go. We have ours attached to the center of the back seat, it fits easily enough. You're welcome.

I used the Graco SnugRide for when my son was an infant b/c you can just release it from the base and carry them inside. Once he was too big for that I went with the Graco Grows4Me. It is a little more expensive than other popular options like the Safety 1st Grow and Go but the Graco Grow4Me seems to be more user friendly. Like a previous poster stated you've got to move up your front passenger seat but I don't think you'll find a way around that. I hope this helps and congrats!
