Sure man throw up some pictures, Did you do the install on the butcher block? I thought about that and if I do that i may do the install myself too, granite obviously takes specialized tooling and costs to much if you f up.

But on the real that was much appreciated. I haven't read an entire page for 4 months or longer. If you could do that every 2 weeks for me that would be great. I'll send you a monthly Dutch Bros coffee....

I did the cabinets and most of the work, but for the counters I hired a guy to do the work. He was absolutely great. I really like the way they turned out and for the money, it was WAY worth it.

Looks awesome man! I actually really like the butcher block I just have to wonder how it will hold up over time to the water+spills and is it one of those fad things that is going to look super dated in 5-10 years when I go to sell? hmmm

Its a valid concern, but everything can be looked at that way. It seems like granite was more popular a few years ago and now quartz is more popular now. Things come and go just like with anything. Hawaiian lifts looked good to some people years ago, lowriders were a thing, I still have a couple Abercrombie and Fitch shirts. I could replace these counters 3x before I would have spent what granite might have cost, for that, I am very happy. I also really like the look. Stains and moisture and etc have not been an issue, but I take care of them. By no means are they for everyone, and I know they don't appeal to quite a few, my own father asked me if "things at work aren't going well" when I bought them.

Whatever you do, I am sure it will look great and make you super happy.

I have had no real issues. The only problem I had was when they were installed, the peninsula in my kitchen is fairly long and the seam was a bit of a chore, but after the install, nothing. I use linseed oil to keep them nice and shiny and healthy and that seems to help them last.

A buddy and I made a concrete countertop for a house we were having some fun with. It turned out great. There are a number of options out there aside from the standard quartz and granite.

Anybody know where to get those plastic pipe caps for the end of steel tubing? I checked Lowes and came up empty handed.

The ones on my light mount got chewed up in shipping.

I also might have to make some custom brackets for the lights themselves if I can’t get the clearance I need off the grille... that should be pretty easy though because I can most likely make the dxf files myself.

I think the biggest thing to look at as well, is who are you doing this for? Your taste and what you want in a remodel for say 10 years, or do you have plans to sell in the next few years and looking to update as you go until then. Have to look at your return on investment, and kitchens help sell houses, so if it’s to sell soon, you have to reach the most potential clients or else you will have to find that person the kitchen speaks too which can take longer.

If it’s for you for a long time to come, then what’s going to make you happy and not want to change it again for the longest? Yah you may spend 5k vs 1k, but if 2 years your already over the style or look, is it really savings if you demo it and do something else again.

Yep that's where I am weighing my options honestly I know I am going to sell in 5 or less years (garage is way to small for that multi-vehicle life )but things can change and I am just updating as we go because everything is mid 1990's in the house whitewash cabinets pink counters and I know that will hurt selling it later on
