What are the differences between the rear axles of an 07 and 2010 Taco? I'm mainly wondering about the safety features of the trucks. Are there any sensor ports that exist on the 10 that aren't on the 7?

The sr5 and off road share the same axles. Trd off road has a electronic locker. Trd sport has a slightly larger 8.4 rear 3rd member. The gear ratios are the same for all v6 models at 3:73. The 2.7 has 4:10 gears. No difference from 05-15.

All non TRD Offroads have the "8.4" rear diff. The ring gear is actually still 8" in dia. That 8.4 is bunk. The only difference in sport models was the early ones had a limited slip diff. that was like 05-07 iirc. The SR5 and offroad are not compatible at all to any other model since the OR is an E-locker. All other models are compatible.

So there is no difference in the axle housings for the entire 2nd gen. I'm well aware of the differntial differences. I'm just wondering if swapping in an older year axle will play some weird games with the truck's electronics.

It shouldn't as far as I know the sensors are all the same.

picked up an axle from a gardener spec truck
looks like mounting tabs are SUA instead of SOA

is the housing the same as what's on my 4x4?
    Or is it narrower?

Picked it up primarily for the rear diff. It looks like online pics of "8.4"
I forget if the ratio was 3.73 or 3.58 something like that
which the ratio won't matter; plan is to regear it and swap in as a core
I'm just hoping that otherwise it is fundamentally the same, and in fact "8.4"

as I have heard in the past. Saw a post on TW saying that basically any 2nd gen Taco, whether it be flares 4x4 or no flares Gardener
    that it's all "8.4" unless e-locker that's commonly referred to as 8"

TL;DR are these two thingies the same
    on a Gardener Taco
    versus a Tacomaworld Taco?

It's not SUA, it's just upside down on the pallet. That port just offset from the middle is a drain, not fill.

5 lug vs 6 lug. The 5 lug 2wd axles are SUA. But shouldn't be a difference in dimensions.

There is a 6 lug 2wd non prerunner, but those are pretty rare, I think

yes sorry pic from google but the one I have in storage is SUA
Was just trying to figure out if otherwise it’s the same, like width
And the diff/third member that goes into it
To use as a spare for bench regearing

non prerunner is a different housing but same chunk as the 8.4, with a weird ratio like 3.55 or something.

    awesome thank you
    That would explain it
    I believe it’s 3.58
Counted the gears by hand and divided it
