Wayyy too expensive. Might as well get the OEM remote tailgate lock for the insane price Christian is charging for that piece of metal.

It's only $30. You're paying for someones R&D. Especially an independent person, not a big company for something I didn't think of or know how to make.

I'm buying the OEM remote lock as well, but this just adds to it.

 

I couldn't get that bolt off my 2021 Sport...even with the help of my Son-in-Law holding the tailgate.

Vendor gave me refund and I ended up sending it to another member for free.

I ended up spending cash on a SaBellCo.

 

It's like $30. More if you want it powder coated and a security torx bolt

 

I read that a few couldn't get the bolt off, but I had no issues.

 

for a 3rd gen with security screw and powdercoating it is $53.50

 

Yep! I was one of those who had a unyielding bolt...

Here's what I went with...I also have the OEM Tailgate Lock.

I can hardly even buy a meal for $30 today. What fantasy world are you living in where you get auto parts for pennies? Sounds like someone orders their mods from Alibaba.

Looks great. I was looking into that as well but couldnt justify the price so I gave Christian's a shot first.

I'm planning to order the OEM Tailgate lock as well. Was the install easy?

That's cool...Christian's product is great...if I could get the darn bolt off. lol

He was cool and gave me a refund. Also suggested I keep it and maybe give it to someone else who could use it--I did!

Sounds like your butthurt over his product, you’re complaining over $53 for a piece that looks bent up with a press break ($$$), and powder coated? R&D and a member making quality parts, I’ll gladly buy one at that price. Get over yourself dude

 

I couldn't get my bolt out, either.

It's a great device but I just can't get it installed. Gonna keep it and maybe I'll give it another shot someday. I really want this thing to work.

My advice is to go the full Monty on trying to get the bolt out. Just assume it's gonna be tough: remove (or disconnect and pull out as much as possible) the tailgate for full access to the bolt, breaker bar, Torx socket, and HEAT. Roast that bolt from both the inside and outside to soften any thread lock. I mean BURN that MF. THEN try to remove it.

First of all I would like to thank all those kind words that most of you have shared.
For the ones that choose to spread nasty words and negativity, I wish you have a wonderful day a I hope your tailgate don't get stolen.
As far as it's just a piece of metal, here's what you get for your money. A piece that's been bent three separate times on a press brake, sand blasted, washed twice, heated to 400 degree's to off gas any oils, then cooled down and powder coated, then baked again at 400 for 20 minutes, put in an envelope and shipped to your door, plus send out tracking numbers. So after all that, I only really make a couple dollars. The margins a very tight, supplies are not cheap these days. I do it for the satisfaction of thwarting those dam theifs from stealing your $1000ish tailgate.
