So I purchased these LED headlight bulbs for my 3rd headlights despite the good reviews on how they are so good, but they totally suck and are not as bright as I thought. They look bright but when your on the road they are really dim and hard to see the road with, I honestly think the stock halogen bulbs have better light output. What do you guys recommend or what lights do you guys recommend that are super bright.IMG_1664.jpg

Get the Hikari “Eye of Megatron” bulbs or upgrade to a proper LED housing.

You get what you pay for. I have them for my highbeams, which I rarely use, but would never use them as my lowbeams. I am running 35w HIDS for lowbeams.

what? I had those exact bulbs and they were way too bright (for stock housings lol). I had to downgrade because so many people complained about them being too bright

Don’t have anything to compare to but these work good enough for me. 418E0565-BD95-4A06-A8E6-F9745015EEE9.jpg

Auxbeam are the worst. I ran them for 15 minutes... literally. Immediately returned them. I’ve tried Philips and Morimoto and they all suck.

Check out @crashnburn80 thread on bulb comparisons. Great info there. If you want LED, the Hikari Eye of Megatron seem to be the best. FYI - LED bulbs in a halogen housing almost always terribly underperform the factory H11 bulbs. Best bang for the buck is an H9 with a trimmed down locking tab.

Not quite sure about bang for the buck - you'll be replacing the H9 bulbs every year. After a few years you'll spend more on bulbs than the Hikari kit. It's the drawback of halogen technology - bulb life decreases exponentially with increased brightness. Best compromise between life and performance is probably just the stock H11 halogen bulb.

They’re $20 for a set of Philips H9’s, the Hikari are $90 and don’t perform as well as the H9’s. Are you sure the Hikari’s are going to last 5 years? I find that hard to believe.

I plan on hikari ultras but I doubt they will be better than 9$ philips bulbs.

The Ultras SUCK, I know from experience. Get the “Eye of Megatron” version.

I have never used the Eye of Megatron version, I’m basing that recommendation off of crashnburn’s tests

Well they’re all cheap Chinese stuff off Amazon. The names are ultra cheesy!

Well, they either try to sound high tech or Japanese...most of them are just chineseum products that are a knockoff of a reputable brand. I myself lean on Sylvania Zevo's...just my .2
But like other have suggested there are some good write-ups like crashnburn80 did...

Judging by the Amazon reviews, 80+% of the buyers had good luck with these. I installed a $40 set of no-name LED H11 bulbs off AliExpress in early 2017 for my Subaru and they were running fine up until I swapped them out with Hikaris this year. :notsure:
Ultras and Eye of Megatron are one and the same. The cheaper Hikari "2020" model with the black box are the ones to avoid.
