I rather know. I've pulled all kinds of vehicles apart over the years with clean oil per CAT SOS and have found all sorts of stuff that shouldn't be in a pan.

I think you have some learning to do on an interesting subject. I do oil sampling of diesel generators and power transformer oil as part of my career, so am familiar with the concepts and goals. It’s one reason I’m happy to participate in the inexpensive service Blackstone offers for my Taco. I enjoy knowing what’s going on.

FYI: It’s not a question of finding chunks of metal stuck to a magnet, or dirt in a filter. The questions being answered by oil analysis are about metal and chemical content in the oil that is beyond the size of what is collected by a magnet or filtered. You may or may not see value, but maybe read up on it a bit.

There is exceptions to every rule, always. I’m sure there are many CAT engines that looked good to the mechanic, but had bad SOS reading due to hidden damage the mechanic could not see.

Again, this sample was extremely easy for me to take, and I had a sample bottle on hand. I’m not arguing absolutes here.

I’m not sure they offer that on the ATF test.

I will be surprised if only one 3rd gen Taco owner has actually had an ATF sample analyzed.

Kind of pointless to have it analyzed for these transmissions IMO. The Aisins they put in these trucks are bulletproof... I have no doubt they will run 300k+ miles, even with poor maintenance.

Did you just pull a sample off the top? Wouldn't a good mixture of the fluid like you'd get from a change/flush be a better representation of everything that's in there?

Interesting that one report shows kilometers on the vehicle and the other shows miles.

No. Flush will stir any sediments in any pockets that normally just lay there. Off the top is fine.
