    Hi all

Looking to get my TRD Pro skid plate done in a darker silver. Located by LAX area, hoping to find a shop local-ish. Leaning towards powder coat vs paint

Been having a hard time getting any shop to get back to me with a quote even though they've asked me to email them a photo of the item.

    TIA:cheers:

Rattle can DIY. Job is probably too small for a professional shop.

^ As @rnish stated, do it yourself. Just do the prep work right and get the right paint. It's a skid plate, it's doing to accrue rock chips and blemishes. If you do it yourself, you can always touch it up as well. It's absolutely not worth the price to have a shop paint it and if you must, get it power-coated imho.

I used high enamel dark metallic grey paint on mine years ago and I was completely satisfied with the outcome. I did an even 3 coats on mine and its held up very well.

I’ll do it for $900. ;-) for 4Runners suggests Rustoleam high performance enamel working really well.

If it’s really dirty wash it with soap and a scrub brush. Get the crud off. Dry it. Rough up the surface with some thing like a scotch pad, 320 sand paper and or a wire brush also works. It depends on what you got. Then clean it again with a mild solvent e.g., denatured alcohol. If the paint is sound you don’t need to prime but it won’t hurt if you do. I’ve been using the 2 in 1 (primer + top coat) combo spray paint. They seem to work

You won’t even notice the difference up close unless you crawl under between a rattle paint job vs professional paint. You’ll also save 950 plus dollars depending on how many paint can.
