OK I am an old guy that just cannot figure the lights on my 2107 TRD Sport. I have read the owners manual and still it is confusing to me. What I want is my truck to have the DRL on during the day and the headlights and dash lights to come on at night "Automatically". However I have to turn the DRL and the headlights on separately and the dash tells me to turn that damn lights off when I shut it off. I see some Toyotas have "auto" on the light switch but my truck does not. I know I will take a beating in here but I'm willing to take the whipping.......so let it begin........but hep an ol guy out here plz.

I just have my headlights set to auto on the selector and it works as you describe. There is a sensitivy adjustment for how low of light you want to the headlights to turn on. Also the sensor is on the passenger side dash so if you have any stickers or parking passes up there it can affect it.

The auto selection may be part of the tech package. if you leave the light selector switch on, the lights will shut off when the engine is switched off and then the drivers door is opened. I personally prefer to drive with headlights and tail lights on at all times.

I must have missed that when reading the manual. That’s very good to know since I’d like to turn the sensitivity down. I assume this is done throuh the head unit...?

IMG_1766 Light Switch .jpg Ok guys that is part of my point I must not have the "full" technology package because I do not have the "auto" on the switch and I cannot find that sensitivity adjustment on the touch screen.

You don't have auto headlights. If you did there would be an 'Auto' position on the second click from the bottom...

DRL is default to ON but they can be disabled through the head unit if your truck is so equipped.

If you like to drive with your headlights on all of the time you can just leave them switched on as I BELIEVE the headlights will either turn off after a certain amount of time or will turn off when you get out of the truck and close the door with the engine OFF.

The AUTO setting on the lights switch will turn your headlights on and off automatically depending upon surrounding light levels (on at night, off during the day)

For those with the ‘18 and use the Auto High Beams, is there a +/- for sensitivity as in the Auto Headlights?

I do not have auto but have the drl like the above picture. Is it ok to leave them in drl all the time and then turn the headlights on manually at night? I like the drls but don't want to burn anything out or come out to a dead battery overnight. Owners manual is very vague here.

They do seem to be off, but I guess I wondered about that since I've seen others ask about using the same strategy for the headlights to which many people recommended not doing. I don't drive at night very often, so I don't want to be turning my drls on everyday... I'd just leave them off at that point. I guess I'm wondering if the drls are "auto" if left in that position. Thanks!

Hit the lock button twice on your keyfab when walking away and they will immediately turn off. Kind of silly the auto option is part of the tech package.

If you leave the switch in the DRL position they go off when you turn the truck off and come on when the truck is on and the parking brake is released (if you had the brake on).

Does anyone know if DRL's can stay on while the headlights are also on? I have Halos hooked up to both my DRLs and Headlights, they glow orange when my DRLs are on and white when headlights are on while also blinking orange when my indicator is on. I recently hooked up my raptor lights to my DRLs but also want them to be on at night, but my DRLs are not on when I turn on my headlights.
