I cut some wires here. Added some wires there.
The fact that this little guy has over 600 reviews on Amazon and almost 5 full stars should tell you something. Then once you see it only costs $19 there's no reason not to own one (unless you have the fancy scanguage or UG).

It'll read you the code and reset the check engine light and clear the code. What more do you need? It's not going to read you your mileage in real time or anything. It just reads the trouble code and resets it.

Sometimes when trouble shooting a CEL you have to use a process of elimination. Fix or adjust one thing. Reset the light. If it comes back on fix or adjust the next thing and reset the light again. This is invaluable for that. It does it's basic job and it does it for $19. To me, it's worth having just so I don't have to ask the pimple faced kid at Pepboys to come out in the parking lot and read me the code.

Can't go wrong for $20

FWIW, I believe if you unhook the battery for 15 minutes, the ECU resets itself. Not sure if it'd clear a CEL but I thought I read that it would (just no way to read out the code).

Disconnecting the battery does clear the check engine light also. Just did it 3 days ago. This little guy will also read multiple codes too, for when a mod really for a wrong.
