Has anyone here mounted Audiofrog GB15 tweeters in their second gen? According to crutchfield they are .2” too tall to fit in the factory door tweeter location. I’m wondering if there’s enough clearance between the window to cut out a hole in the door panel to successfully mount these. Other option would be fabricating my sail panels, but I think I’d rather put them in the factory location. If anyone’s installed GB15’s in their second gen I’d love to see what you came up with.

I would absolutely remove the door panels and measure myself.

My old eclipse came from the factory with 6.5" door speakers, crutchfield insisted that only 5-1/4" speakers would fit.

Thats a good point, I haven't measured myself but I will. I came across some other posts of people fitting mid ranges in the factory tweeter location, but I looked up the specs of the speakers they were fitting and they were max 1.5" tall and the people said any larger wont fit. Im wondering if it is indeed too tall if theres enough clearance between the window to just cut out a hole to mount the tweeter recessed.

In case anyone else comes across this and is wondering, the GB15’s fit just fine in a second gen Tacoma with a slightly thicker tweeter mount. About 1/2” clearance behind which allows wiring, and enough space in front of the plastic factory grille to not touch. Snug but perfect fit.
