    4 run, 2 don't
    Wrong section.

Question though, what's wrong with General Springs?

I only ask because a ton of people use them; I just got done helping someone install their GS and u bolt kit at my house a few weeks ago.

Whoops! Do you know if I can move the post? I routed around in my postings area, but don't see an option to do that.

Nothing wrong with GS that I know of. Simply wondering if anyone has any experience with ATS. They could be just as good, just lesser known. Their online reviews are decent. Just throwin' it out there & if enough people piped in with a thumbs up I'd consider them given that I'd save a bit on the shipping....

    Interesting thing Wonder Wrenching Women.

These people are 30 to 45 minutes away I have never heard of them.Unless they were under a different name

I have even been past their location many times.

It might be that these are the same springs General Springs sells as all the times I have ordered from General Springs the springs themselves are Shipped from Harrisburg (manufactured in Harrisburg) another town just a little over an hour away .

Maybe ask this question in the Pa regional forum many live in that area.

Another thing I have two spring Shops close by The quote from General Springs delivered was very much more cheaper then the local places

    :D -

Good idea, the PA forum. The shipping quote from GS is 110.00? I think & ATS is 65.00? I think.... (not in front of my computer, PITB looking it up on the phone) plus the springs are 10.00 less. If you get the package, it’s 345.00, shackles, ubolts & bolts. & of course, even though $ is a factor, it’s not cost above quality.

    https://www.truckspring.com/leaf-sp...rings.aspx?make=Toyota&year=2002&model=Tacoma

Dont know much about the quality of
general spring but someone said is harbor freigth whatever Q

Now i asked if someone tried These

General Springs uses Dakars. Seems the majority swear by this brand for standard type springs. The typical complaint seems to be squeaking & bushings, although bushing type can be subject to mode of application, off roading, etc. It'd be interesting to do a spring type survey. I wonder sometimes since Tacomas can be so picky with how they react to certain parts, if this is specific to year?, VIN? I have an SR5 & half, if not more of the time, I have to put in "Base" when doing a parts search. Plus, each year different "batches" if you will, were made probably even in different places, etc. But maybe the bigger picture is that it has been put through 19 years of being tweaked & twisted & then there's the attempts to get it back to as close to original as can be. My poor truck has been lopsided, then set straight (mounts) or so I thought cuz next was a tranny mount & now we're straight, or so I thought, cuz center support bearing & oh, the drive shaft is off a couple of splines. Fix that, cab is off center, work on that, etc. I have gone from having to repeatedly adjust the hood stops to hemming & hawing over why the doors won't shut right & not lining up with the quarter panels, etc. Soooo, it's not a wonder that it may really ultimately be up to my truck as to whether it "likes" this brand or that brand of yet another new part designed to get it back to it's original state.
& the new frame was done in 2010, six years after the 1st gens were done being made. I would hope it was as close to the original as possible since all the old parts were put back on, but only my truck knows what adjustments it went through.... I wasn't as attentive back then & nor was I when the mounts got screwed up 2 years ago because there was damage done & that is something that has to be compensated for by shimming, yet another adjustment.
Ok, so that's just my thoughts on that aspect. I am not discounting at all that quality & durability are absolute necessities. I spoke to a local spring shop & they use Dakars. I asked him about the difference between my ordering them online vs from him. He said he knows the ones he gets are made in the USA. He said Dakars can be made in China. True story? I dunno, but a quick look around the site & I don't see anything that claims US sold, US made.

Cost wise - Springs, ubolts, shackles, bolts, shipped to mass.
    GS - 535.00 - Dakars
    ATS - 400.00 - Standens
TS - I could not find any standard ubolts, nor bolts specific to my truck, so springs & shackles shipped, 385.00. It seems their cost for other ubolts is around 20.00-25.00 a pair, so for ha-ha's we could add in 45.00 (same as GS) & throw in another 12.00 for bolts. The other thing with them is who is their spring supplier? I did not see any reference to this on their site, which BTW, is a PITB to use cuz you have to repeatedly enter your make/model/year. Better to call. Personally, I like to be able to tool around sites easily.
So if this can be ordered from them & I threw a couple of sets of ubolts in the cart to update shipping &....
    TS - 445.00

So there's my Kristi aka WWW style 16 cents, meaning, not so much opinions, more like wonderings....

It's worth something - more than my 16 cents.... :)
I'll have to find the ad I saw about Tacoma owners thinking they have full size trucks. It was an oldie, pertaining to 1st gen. It was great. I have off & on put mine to the test. Definitely pushed it when I was working for a guy splitting & loading firewood.... I think that was the final straw with these shocks.... If I was still doing that I'd probably opt for the heavy duty.... Miss that job. Good workout, one 10 hr day per week, 160.00 under the table. Don't miss the boss though....
