Has anyone seen issues with the army Green paint? My buddy has a 2021 and his hood is flaking in 5 spots, some close to the size of a quarter.

That looks to me as if something was spilled on the paint. I have had no issues with my 2020 and don't remember seeing any comments about paint issues with AG.

That's a bird poop. Go to their nest, and do the same. Revenge accomplished. Poor birdy...their nest will be distroyed.

Looks like a defect. The dealer better take care of it. I only heard this type of issues on white tacos.

That’s a paint reaction and clearly gone through clear coat and then base. So It’s come from the top and not the metal, Ie not a manufacturer defect. so as above two comments looks like something like brake fluid was spilt on it, I’ve never seen bird poop that bad / quickly react.

The guy is very careful around and with the truck. I know he didn't spill anything on it but maybe something happened he's not aware of.

The second pic has a lot of markings that I really can’t tell what they are, have to see in person. But if going to dealer, I’d personally rub off (with finger) the spots where it’s a clear reaction.

Just to update anyone interested - vehicle was taken to the dealer, they said they had never seen anything like it before. So they had it for a day and sent everything up to Toyota Corporate. They took 3 days and then pretty much said it was an external issue that caused the paint to peel/flake/melt or whatever it is doing. So they won't be covering anything; which is what I expected to happen. We're still trying to figure out what could have caused the paint to essentially melt from the clearcoat through to bare metal. The only thing we can come up with is that the truck is parked under a black cherry that dropped a lot of fruit this year. Maybe the acidity in the cherries sitting on the hood along with the scorching hot direct sunlight caused the issue?

I hope not I have the same color, no problems at all. 2020 pro. It sure does look like that came from the top side down.

I didn’t mention that my buddy is 66 years old and does not modify anything. I practically had to force him to allow me to install some lights in the truck bed.

A 2021 and the paint has that issue. I can understand corporate now wanting to spend a dime, but I think it's pretty lousy of them not to. I would not want my product running around in public, a 2021 no less, with paint-peel that is going to get worse over time. I can't believe the dealer just wouldn't pony up and fix that. Unless they can prove it was some outside-force that caused this I'd press a little harder for them to fix it....

You could always go ass-hat on them and build a big sign on some saw horses or something put it in the bed of the truck and park it at the dealership while 'looking around' at other vehicles for hours and point attention to the paint for future buyers to see. I mean what could they do get you arrested and thrown in jail and then newspaper coverage of the truck and the paint and some feeble 66 year old with a walking cane getting man-handled by the cops and cuffed at the dealer.... be sure to have a walking cane or one of those walker things us old people use for the photo-shot... LOL

No money, all went to truck...
    brake fluid will do that.

Besides the obvious flaking, what are all the white squiggles around it? Looks to me some chemical got on the paint.

I think he's going to end up having the hood repainted. I know the body shop said they would contact Toyota but I'm sure they won't get anywhere either. I'm pretty sure this will be the last Toyota he buys, which is a shame.
Not sure what the white squiggles are. Unless someone dropped a half dozen or so random drops of a chemical on his hood we can't come up with a good explanation. It's not in a splatter or splash pattern, just spots here and there.

My buddy had a 4Runner that did the same thing. The tree that he had near his driveway was dropping something, sap maybe, that just ate through the paint. I do not blame Toyota for not covering this type of issue. Can you imagine the cost of fixing every paint issue, not their fault, that came through their doors?
