I got a box of parts to put 3rd gen struts on my 2nd gen and included in the package were the upper control arms. Are they the same or are they going to help with my budget lift? Truck only has 40k on it so things are not worn out yet, just want the low budget lift... Also, any recommendations on spacers? Want 2-21/2 total out of this project. Truck is a parking-lot queen and will see limited dirt if any.

    Thanks in advance

    Pat

I swapped the original coils and shocks on my 2015 SR5 4x4 (30K mileage) with take-offs from a low mileage (<4K) 2017 TRD OR and added a 1/2 spacer from Headstrong Off-Road - Net lift was 4 cm/1.5 inches in the front (nothing in the back, obviously) - be sure to get an alignment after install - truck looks and rides great!

In your pic it looks like you have a 1/2 inch spacer (giving you 1 inch of lift) - not sure you could get the nuts to thread on those original top hat studs with a 1 inch spacer in there - or am I seeing things?

    Truck looks good!

I really like that idea, too much work but seems like the right way to go. Did you put the 17 ucas on there? My spacers on my leveling kit are too high, hard to align.

Thanks guys-this is what I was after. Headstrong is out of spacers, but there are others I am sure. I also got rear shocks and spring packs!

I did not use the 17 UCAs - they’re identical to what’s already on my 15...I did have longer studs installed on the top hats (for peace of mind) since the 1/2 inch spacer left fewer threads for the nuts to grab (did I just type that? lol)
The labor for installation was $360 including alignment.

Just got a 3rd gen suspension to put on my 2nd gen, also came with a 1” rear block. I’ve read that it can give an about a 1” lift on the 2nd gens. I already have a 2” spacer on there sooo would that really give me 3” lift?anyone have experience on this? And would that much lift just start messing up my suspension/ride quality

Did you ever figure this out? Getting ready to put 3rd gen shocks on my 2nd gen that has 2" spacer on it. I do NOT want 3" of lift

Quoting so it can’t get edited. How did that whole “limited dirt” thing work out, friend?

Have you fellas considered making your own post in the suspension section linked below rather than hijacking a thread that was originally about UCAs? Because if not and if you want answers that’s something you can look into. Just saying.

Third gen works fine on second gen. Bolt right up. If you have OR or better shocks and springs you get around an inch of lift. So YES, it works upper shocks springs the whole mess. Ran it for years with a .75" spacer too (oh the drama!!) so I had about 2- 2 1/2 inches of lift.

    2inch spacer-cryptic... is it really a 2" spacer or a 1" spacer (which will give you 2")????

So they ended up fitting? I’m looking at the same solution.

Front spacers will give you approximately double the lift, rear blocks are one for one.
A 1" spacer in the front will give you about 2" of lift.

ifvyou are asking about the 35’s they do but require lots of extra work and trimming. 37’s would just be ego and not worth it
