I'm finally getting around to getting the Westcott Kit put on my Taco and will be upsizing to Toyo ATIII 285/70/17 tires. While my off-roading is limited, I enjoy hitting the trails when the opportunity arises. Just curious what everybody goes with. I'm leaning towards C.

I'm running E-rated Cooper Rugged Treks in 285/70/17. I would have preferred C-loads if they were available in my size.

Edit: The Cooper RT's run light for their size and load rating.

Options are very limited in C I think.. it seems to be 'ideal' though most say.

    I run load range E.

I have c-load as my KO2's. They have been a great tire for a few years now and will get again.

Most running a "not aggressive" tire are typically using SL/P-rated tires. Most running a more aggressive tire are running SL or E load tires. I think more may prefer C or D load, but the options are pretty limited in the most common tire sizes around here. That being said, I run C-load KO2's, and will move to E load mud tire next (bc it'll be the only option in the tire brand/size I want).

LED interior, license plate, and fog lights. More to come.
I've got XL Rugged Treks in 265/70/R17 on mine. Now that I lifted it 2 inches I'd like to go 285 and the Rugged Trek is available in SL in that size now.

I have a Tacoma with no extra weight added so I have SL, even packed up for camping these are more than adequate for the load.

Desired tire size or tire brand can sometimes make the load rating choice for you. Some sizes or brand are not available in multiple load capacities.

I am running 265/70R17's Toyo Open Country AT III's

I have wildpeak at3 sl. The AT tires are a big difference from stock highway tires, so i didnt need c rating.

    Same.

Stock is 4 ply, C is 6 ply, E is 10 ply. There is a D, 8 ply, but those are rarer. They exist, but not as common as C and E. "Ply" is an old school term, tires aren't made that way anymore, but the load range using the plies is the "equivalent to" 4/6/10 etc.

The ranges are the sidewalls, if you aren't running your sidewalls into anything, get 4 or 6.

I am very happy with them. They have excellent wet traction. They aren't too noisy. The ride is smooth. I use a true winter so my snow experience with them is limited but I haven't had any issues with an early spring freeze or snow fall.

I will purchase a set of these again.

I had SL Falkens AT3w back in the day and blew a tire on a dirt road. Sold them the next week and got C rated Falke MTs and they were great. I am now on E rated Toyo ATIII with no complaints. I would have gone with the C rated ones but they weren’t in stock at the time.

I would like to run C but the size I run isn’t conducive to that. I’m on XLs for now. Stock sport size, 265/65R17 116T Toyo ATIIIs. I really like them but I want something in LT, and I only want C LTs, not E.

Glad they are working out for you and glad to hear that about the wet weather. I've got KO2s in stock size now and am less than impressed in wet conditions.

Thanks! Not many are fans of the sport rims I swapped to but I like them and I personally like the smaller tires as well. I wouldn’t mind one size up though.
