If you need to haul stuff on the street then why would a 2 wheel drive truck be a waste of money?

Split the difference and get a 3wd. best of both worlds.

Brother Shwaa I can't help but notice a sizable amount of random threads with more random questions in the title.

I love you man, but you're crazy.

Depends on what you plan on doing with the truck. 2wd's have their place (especially if you live in the south and don't plan on wheeling). 4x4 has it's place if you live in places where it snows or you actually want to take the truck on some trails that need a 4x4. That said... I regretted buying a PreRunner and sold it for my 4x4. We use it on the trails in Colorado and there are some trails that a PreRunner couldn't even think about going up. I don't have to worry about that. It takes me to places I never would have seen in a 2wd truck.

It all boils down to YOUR specific needs for the truck. If a 2wd works for you then that is what you need to get. Not a waste of money.

What's really a waste of money is the amount of people that buy 4wd when they don't need it. Or a pickup in general for that matter. As far as physics are concerned, a pick-em-up truck is really a horrible design if you don't haul things. How many of you have actually had 3/4 of a ton in the bed of your trucks? Or just a 24 lb mountain bike and your disc golf bag...

So unless you tow or haul you shouldn't buy a pickup ( and if you do buy a pickup and not tow or haul you are either a poser or an idiot). That's kinda what you are saying.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
    Basically that is the case.

Just giving you shit. It doesn't make sense financially but we want what we want so buy what you want!

RearViewMirror nailed it. Bought a Pre Runner and 2 months later I was in a TRD Off Road.

Found out I missed 4 wheel drive more than I thought I would.

Just get what you want and suits your needs.

So you're saying I should have bought a sedan because my bed isn't stacked high with stuff every time I start my truck? Damn guess I should've bought a corolla instead to turn into an overland adventure vehicle.

No, when money is somewhat always tight, and you need a pick-up truck, 2wd makes perfect sense.

It is not a waste of my money.

This is my 4th pickup truck in almost 30 years of driving. 1 Nissan, 1 Toyota, 1 Ford, and 1 Toyota again. All of them 2wd, and all of them have met my needs.

I would say that 1% of the Tacoma population are actually a member of this site. The vast majority of those members use there truck as a truck or a means to take them places that Tacoma's are well suited for.

I personally "use" my truck to haul shit
