I have the ARB rapid tire deflator, but I'm thinking of buying the stauns to keep in the wifes 4Runner. Easy for her to just screw them on and then take them off when they stop making noise

Hmmm. I just ordered the ARB deflator last night. From what I read it's faster to deflate per tire and I like that I can set it to whatever pressure I want on the fly. Plus I was worried about losing those little Staun things in snow or dirt or whatever.

Yeah, I'm always worried it's gonna fall apart and I'll lose my core and be fuct. I'm gonna take Ronnies advice and carry some spares.

I have these xbull deflators. They take a while to do deflate the tires, but they're super cheap and work fine enough for me.

Neither, I use my home made tire inflator/ deflator.

Open the valve, fill or deflate, close the valve and it gives you the pressure. It also balances at the same time.

I've been using the shit out of it lately, and it's worked flawless. I still want to trade the valve stem chucks out for a screw on type.

I've used the arb a lot. I liked it when I was doing more rock crawling because I varied the pressures a lot depending on the trail. My tacoma won't see that level over trails so the stauns would be my choice today. They are quicker overall because you can do all four at once.

I've had the stain deflators for over 5 years and uses the piss out of them all summer long while going and going to the beach with the wife. So far they've been great. I just ordered this set and for the Tacoma and I'll be comparing them side by side when they come in.

I've got the same one, and tested it against high end ones, very, very close to the same +/- .5PSI
but that won't deflate as fast as the ARB

    Deflater Tip:

I painted my Staun Deflators each a different color for a couple of reasons:

    Two ways to use them.

    1. Set each color at different pressure, for different terrains. I do have to use that same color on each tire, four times-as long, but that is ok and well worth it. Example a color for each: Desert, Beach, Dirt or Rock. Please see photos below.

    or

    2. Set all to the same pressure. Fast truck deflate time. By time I put on the fourth one, first one is done.

I always put them on in Red (LF) White (RF), Blue (RR) and Black(LR) order, in case one is off pressure after an air down per my Tacoma truck gauge. Then when back home, I know which one to tweak/correct for my next adventure. This helped me stabilize the initial settings. They generally stay correct once set.

I like my Staun deflators but it took some practice calibrating them properly. Unscrew till the cap pops, screw back in till it closes, and...oh fuck I screwed it in 1/2 turn too far and I'm a couple pounds off.

Any updates on those deflators? I was going to buy the Stauns but noticed those are 1/3 the cost.
BTW I'm retiring the ARB rapid deflator as well as my ARB inflator. Both are low quality junk that didn't last a year. Really surprised since my ARB compressor and snorkel are very high quality.

The stem puller seized (but was still usable) after about 5 uses. The low volume adjuster button and spring popped out last trip. The inflator was ok after I took it apart and used yellow Teflon on all the fittings how ever the deflator button leaks periodically as well.
