So, there’s obviously been some PR and advertisement on some of the new OME parts including the new HD shock/strut MT64 but there hasn’t been much of any info on the new Nitrocharger Plus shock and new springs that are taking over the previous 883-886 springs and Nitrocharger Sport shock.

I called ARB, MULE(shop out of WA) and also went through the updated 400 page ARB guide catalog to figure it out. I also did find one website that has the shock avail and a short video from ARB showing the new shock and how it’s going to work.
Reason I care is because I’m getting these parts installed on my 2013 AC 6speed I just picked up last week. I had an 05 AC 6MT with 885s and an 18 DC 6MT with 886s and wanted to get the identical setup on my 13…but that’s no longer possible thru MULE. Yes the old springs and I believe the old nitro sport shocks are still available online but I’ve decided to go with the new product.
So what’s interesting and slightly discouraging is that ARB will only be offering, pretty much 1 spring. The 4002 for 2nd gen Tacomas(390mm/590 spring rate) and the 4004 for 3rd gen Tacomas(395mm/590 spring rate).
I’ve already confirmed, which is obvious that the 4004 will work on a 2nd gen. I think the 4004 is 5mm larger to incorporate slightly larger factory weight from the 3rd gen.
So the kicker is, that the new Nitrocharger plus strut will come with 2 “trim spacers” that’s what I’m calling them or trim packers that sit below the spring seat that have 5mm-20mm spacing depending on how much weight you have on the vehicle. I’ll be running the 4004 with the 20mm packer on a stock front end to achieve the ol’ standard 3 inches of lift. I guess that’s all I got, just wanted to share that info with y’all and I guess if you wanted the old OME 800 series springs I’d buy them now.
The link below will have the video showing the new shock with the included “spacer rings” described from sum bloke from ARB.

Reviving an old thread here but did you end up installing the Nitrocharger Plus struts/springs? I wonder if they are just rebranded nitro sports or if they actually changed the valving. I can’t find much info about the new Plus’s on TW or anywhere else, which makes me think it’s a rebranded Sport shock.

They discontinued the 90000/90021. 93000is the firmer ones, think 21 at the end.is the softer. Body on them is a little larger. Can't use old 2xxx coils on them, coil seat is different. Designed for 4xxx coil series.

Hey, how’s your ride with the preload spacers? Did they work out for you adding a little height and not really harming the ride quality? I’ve heard conflicting things. Would wanna use the 10 and 15mm spacers for lean correction and another 3/4”. Good idea?

With my post above, and having 886s installed for yrs now and OME discontinued there old struts for these and googling what struts would work with them now and not happy with my search. I was determined not to have to go through trial and error of new experimenting, I think Toyotamafia i talked to was trying to make a purch seat to fit new OME struts to old springs, not waiting that long, so reach out to Mike at @Exit Off road and there Dobinsons fit old stock coils. This didn't come up in any of my searches or I was looking in wrong area.

Buy once, cry once. The OME Nitrocharger series have limited adjustability — you have only a couple trim packs to play with, and after that you have to buy new springs for more adjustment.

Just get adjustable coilovers and be done with it — either the C-Clip style or the threaded shock bodies. You will spend less money in the end than buying two or three sets of springs at >$200 each to perfect your ride.

Bilstein 5100’s are cheap, have far more adjustability, and are arguably better in most situations than OME Nitrochargers. See the blind budget shock test on youtube linked in my next post here.

Bilstein 6112’s are a step over the 5100’s and what I run (after having run Nitrochargers previously), and are in my estimation the best value out there.

The Bilsteins have ample adjustability built in with their C-Clips, but can still be a big PITA to adjust at home, if you are not comfortable with disassembling a coilover by disconnecting the LCA at the knuckle and using it with a jack as a spring compressor. I am fine using the LCA as a spring compressor so this is my happy middle ground.

For maximum ease of adjustability without having to drop $$$$ on new coils, and without having to disconnect the LCA, threaded body shocks (Fox, King, Icon, etc.) are the way to go, but they are more pricey.

Note, my experiences, the above post using adjustable on billies are good recommendations for lower spring rate springs, 3"- lifts, not for 886s spring rate coils. Me being a 4runner, I managed to get 4.5" lift with my setup and billies just blow out.

Ah, anything more than 2.5 inches of lift on a 2nd Gen Tacoma and your CV fins touch during normal driving, which will eventually wear through. (Ask me how I know.)

And at 2 inches lift, alignments start to become a “compromise” without new UCA’s. (Ask me how I know.)

Let’s not even talk about how crappy droop travel is at higher lift heights. Can’t even roll off a curb without your shock topping out, so forget about keeping all four tires planted offroad. (AMHIK)

Because you ran the Billies WAY beyond their design parameters by lifting that high.

They did alright when I was in there perimeters 885s, just too sponge spring rate for my setup. Had a cheap experiment (free) so I tried... when I did all this, not much on the internet/forms to help in trying/experimenting. So, guess I was a Guinea pig, just passing on info from my adventures.
