I have ARBs in my TRD Sport Front and rear. Ordered form ECGS with 5.29 gears. It went fine install is not bad. The installs are up on my YT channel. With regard to lockers and gears, trim level really does not matter. Clamshell and rear end are what matter. IF you decide to go through ECGS just call them to order, they will walk you through the order.

Heads up on price my lockers and gears front and rear came to $3,300 after core return.

Wow! This is a game changer. With this kit and better shocks, a Tacoma Sport could be even better than an Off-Road. Right? I just sold my TRDOR because I wanted both a manual AND a 6' bed in the Access Cab configuration.

i did the easy button and shipped the 3rd and clamshell to ECGS to get 5.29s+ ARB lockers frt+rear added to my 2020 AC manual sport.
every now and then the rear locker solenoid will start misting out gear oil but cleaning out the line will keep it clean for a while. not sure why it keeps reoccuring yet. ECGS says this is typically a once after first install only issue.

If you opt for a locker in the front in addition to the rear then technically yes, more capable. But then higher cost than buying an OR. You can buy and build anything you want, it all comes down to cost. F/R lockers on a Sport or any truck would be a good combo.

I personally wish I could get a TrueTrac LSD out back instead of the factory locker. I never use the locker and probably never will. But it’s not available for our diff so the locker is the best thing to have, and that goes for all 3rd gen manuals regardless because they all have the same diff, just open or locked depending on trim.

Bought the OR for the rear locker and then installed a front ARB myself. Install guide is in my signature (turn phone sideways). Installation is critical to keep the air system working leak free and without gear oil intrusion. Installed mine in 2020 and yet to have any issues.

It won’t fit a manual either- my bad.

Anything becomes more capable with locked diffs, I never really worried about OR vs Sport. I specifically bought the TRD Sport knowing I would be re gearing and adding lockers. With aftermarket selectable lockers you do not have to deal with the factory steps for engaging the lockers, they lock in much quicker and can be locked at speed. Now, they all have pros and cons so do your research and chose the selectables that work for you.

The cool thing you can do in a sport with rear locker is 2wd locked, most OR’s don’t have access to this nearly useless feature.

Good info thread: would love to add front & rear lockers to my 4x4 Sport Long Bed. Think I’d prefer to go E-locker so I don’t have to have an on-board air system always running when I want them locked up.

I got my air installed (other than the airlines).. time to order the gears and lockers.

I've got a question for you though,20240602_150520.jpg I didn't hear mentioned in your video. Does going to the arb lockers throw any codes for the LSD? I assume that switch no longer functions right?

Good question, as far as I know everything functions as is with no change form the factory settings. With ARBs, you can run the locker in 2wd which really helps in towing situations where 4wd might not be a viable option.

IMG_4272.png I just replaced my rear E locker differential with an air locker ARB differential. Now I have warning lights on on my dash.

Have any of you ran into this issue and do you have someway to resolve the codes or lights on the dash?

The ARB install guide says you have to twist some wires together to avoid having dash lights.

What happens when you accidentally try to engage the OE locker with the wires shorted, I don't know (I'd probably use a resistor there if it were mine).
