Hey TW Fam, I'm looking for 2wd trails/dispersed camping areas for those that have gone to Anza Borrego before? My cousin purchased a Crosstrek recently and wants to gain some off-road knowledge/experience. His car is completely stock and I've been told it's pretty sandy there? Any info/suggestions would be great!

What are some things that we MUST checkout while out there?

The road to the slot canyon trailhead is super easy. Most cars could make it.
I saw a Forester on Fish Creek last time I went. I think a Crosstrek could make it.
I'm blanking out on the other trails. Haven't been there in 2 years. I might go again before it gets too hot. I usually use alltrails to find trails at state parks.

Pretty much all of Anza and Ocotillo Wells is 2wd friendly. If anything just make sure you have a tow strap or recovery boards. I’d recommend heading down to Fish Creek I’ve seen plenty of regular suvs and what not go out there. You can pretty much camp anywhere there as well since it’s BLM. Anza Borrego is a little bit more limited as there are rules how far your vehicle can be away from the road and what not. At the entry of fish creek there is a small campground with a hand full of spots and bathroom. Can’t go wrong there. You can even checkout Sandstone a canyon and get a decent amount of the way in before having to turn around due to low clearance and 2wd

Some recommendations for things to checkout:
-Sunrise or sunset at Fonts Point
    -The Slot
    -Sandstone Canyon
-Borrego Palm canyon hike (not right now because a fire burn down the palm oasis so you can’t check it out
    -Wind Caves

I do have recovery gear that I've never had to use before. Might change if my cousin decides to tag along :woot:

Thanks for the list guys! Building out a google earth map now and will add them!

Check out Blair Valley. Super easy and you can camp anywhere right off the trail. We did the pictograph trail the next morning. There was one spot what was washed out that made me go on 3 wheels, but besides that, super 2wd friendly.

Blair Valley for sure. Great place to go.

just be careful right now. It’s rattlesnake season. My kid almost stepped on this one coming back from the pictographs.

Canyon sin nombre is awesome! Clearance might be an issue in some spots, but the last few times I’ve gone down I didn’t need to have 4x4 engaged.

WOW.....For this exact reason, I'm glad I have a RTT.

I'll warn my cousin since he's ground tenting.
