We spent 2 days at Anza's Sheep Canyon (map here) followed by a short trip to Fish Creek and Sandstone Canyon.

I do have to say that the road up to Sheep Canyon campground is reachable by stock Tacoma pre-runners. Yes, the road is a little steep but easily done, just make sure you avoid the obstacles. I did make it up on my DCLB (LSD) but there were all kinds of stock jeeps and trucks at the camp. I would not recommend a Honda Civic but I would not stop you either ( i need a good laugh).

Here is a video of the upper section which is not as bad as the bottom section. Keep in mind that the entire rocky section is short maybe 1/2 of a mile followed by sandy sections which were not bad.

Here is the view of Sheep Canyon from the top. Indian and Cougar Canyon are with in walking distance. Maybe 5 minutes.

There is an Oasis on top, the hike up to it requires you to jump and climb up small boulders. Not really hard but some flexibility is required depending on the path you take. Once you reach the top you can keep climbing to higher groves. Here is small water fall.

There are plenty of rattle snakes resting behind rocks, you must take care not to get bitten.

    The place is incredible.

On the last day, we decided to take a short drive to Fish Creek and Sandstone Canyon. I strongly recommend you visit. Fish Creek is just very sandy while Sandstone Canyon does require 4x4.

Here is me getting stuck on the first obstacle into Sandstone Canyon. The obstacle was placed there by an earth quake a few years back. After this, there is a harder section about 1/4 of a mile up which I did not try on my pre-runner but the jeeps make it up OK.

Here is me, getting pulled and turning my wheels the wrong way.

These two places are great to visit. Besides Sandstone Canyon, you can do it all on a stock pre runner so get out there. I love it.
