You going with a used one?

If so as long as it matches your truck it shouldn't need programming although you will need a scan tool that can perform the bleeding function.

    Why are you replacing it?

There is the tc and cg jumper method. Dm93 may have to look that up for me, it never hurts to try the 30 min jumper hand shake.

Yes I replaced it. My computer showed bad relay which is built inside the unit from all the research I’ve done. All numbers match. This makes the 2nd one I’ve tried and both have done the same exact thing. After installing them in my driveway they worked good but as soon as you drive it the unit will run and the brake is very hard to push down. Pull it back in the driveway and it would work great again. I’m about to pull my bald head even balder. Lol

The FSM shows no registration procedure so I don't think there is a need for one, the only thing it shows is bleeding and if you have VSC doing the Zero Point Calibration.

    What code(s) are you getting?
Have you load tested your powers and grounds going to the ABS unit?

Do you have the vacuum or hydraulic booster?

It all started over me on my brakes one day and hit a pretty big hole in the road. My ABS kicked in and every since then I’ve had trouble out of my brakes. The last 4 months they been messed up. I can pumped them up to come to a stop. Not even removing the 2 block fuses helps. The 30 amp and 50 amp removed helps none but computer shows C0278 code. I’m tired of not having no brakes before I crash into something.

Vacuum to best of my knowledge. It has a air hose on it.

This is what the vacuum booster looks like.

And this is the hydraulic booster.

Then it would seem to me you may have 2 issues:

1: A failed brake booster, you said your brake pedal is hard all the time?
Do you hear a hissing sound when you step on the brake and you may also have a P0171 and/ or P0174 stored in the PCM?

2: If your ABS unit is setting that code with all the fuses installed then you either have a wiring issue to it or a faulty unit.

I bled the new to truck ABS unit and setting in my driveway it has a great pedal. Take it a drive and it’s a different world. Setting still it has a great pedal. Not hard not soft. Only time is when driving it with the fuses in it goes all crazy and doesn’t even want to stop. I hear the unit kicking on when driving but it does not kick on setting still. I’m having the worst freaking luck man. It’s got me going crazy right now. I appreciate your help.

So the code isn't there with the fuses installed?
So what does it do when you pull the ABS fuses?
The ABS unit should be completely disabled with the fuses out.

The code is there with or without the fuses in it. When I got it stopped on my road I pulled the fuses. I have a very soft pedal and have to pump it 3 or 4 times to get a firm pedal. With the fuses in I can’t stop it.

That's very interesting, I wonder if a speed sensor is dropping out causing the ABS to activate when it shouldn't. Still odd you don't have a good pedal with the fuses pulled, did you replace the whole unit or just the electrical part?

I guess we could check the powers and grounds at the module since you have that code.

For some reason it’s not allowing me to pull that file up. My screen is just solid white.

@Bishop84 your thoughts on this? Definitely a strange issue.

Can your scanner read ABS data?
