Just installed the anytime front camera and I noticed that when viewing the front my rear light on switch is on. So both switch lights are lit up but only the rear when using rear. Anyone have an idea on what I did wrong?

    Hello,

Mine worked the same till I switched back to germes kit, due to image scan issues, (lines across the screen). Two lights on for front, one light on for rear. No light for off.

You didn’t do anything wrong. There is a small diode on the back of the switch. The ABC sends power via the “rear” to the head unit to trigger the reverse camera. It does this even when you select the “front”.

edit: I believe you can make it stop doing this with another diode. It’s been a while since I played with the ABC system, but it should be doable. If it really bothers you, let me know and I’ll sit down and think about it. Off the top of my head, it should just be adding a diode and the placement of the existing changing.

I'd check your ground wire... I could be wrong, but.....

Mine doesn't light up at all, until I press the appropriate button.

    Edited 4 ALL.
Switch illumination is not related, but Andrew seems to have gotten a different batch of switches which behaves that way. (both indicators on when camera is selected)
    They were this way:
    upload_2022-10-2_14-46-47.jpg
    but now they are not...

There is a diode between 4 and 5 IIRC? That diode is only there on the ABC switch, not the other SPDT switches they sale. I might be wrong on the location, like I said, it’s been a while. But that diode allows the power to pass from the “front” to the “rear”, so 5 to 4? So if you didn’t want both to light up, you could put another diode on 4 before the other diode. Sorry, my usual disclaimer about me sucking at explaining things applies. :p

Kit switch diode is for reverse input to head unit: Rear anytime doesn't activate relay to switch over.
    upload_2022-10-2_15-1-55.jpg
Front Cam select sends juice to reverse input of head unit and relay to change over.

Thanks everyone. If it's the switch and not me I can live with it, just didn't know if I did something wrong. I'm very pleased with the kit and excited to use on my next adventure.

How hard was the camera install? I have the exact same kit sitting in a box ready to be installed, but I keep finding excuses NOT to do it. I'm intimated by the entire process for some reason! Any pointers you care to share?

It was a little intimidating till I started. I set it up on my bench and got ot all wired and then it was just a matter of installing. Pull the radio, plug the harnesses in and feed your wires down to pedals then the camera wires threw firewall. I would say to add to the black grounds as it would have given more movement for placing the switch.
The angle of the camera was the time consuming part and I'm still thinking it needs to be lifted more.

If I had to do it again, it would have taken less than 2 hours, but I'm a procrastinator..... I spent more time thinking about it, then actually doing it.

Pretty simple really, just check out the few YouTube videos on it.

Also I chose to use the safety green & red lines on the front camera, just like the rear OEM camera

I have a 2017 with no front camera. Are you buying an aftermarket camera or using stock? I'm interested in replacing my sport grille with a pro and either using the late model stock camera with the OEM pro grill or buying an aftermarket pro grill without a camera and mounting an aftermarket camera. Maybe there's a write up I should see here somewhere? Thanks

I installed this in my truck a couple months back. It was not bad, I followed a few YouTube videos and their official instructions. Don’t be like me, be sure to ground before you test the camera. I spent an extra 45 minutes redoing the wiring because I couldn’t get video signal, tuns out that ground is pretty important.

the 2 lights being on is normal per the faq, as posted above by another poster. This happens to me as well.

Just be careful when you are drilling the hole for the camera on the grille.
I was an idiot and scratched up my grille a little, but I can live with it. (OEM Offroad Grille)

    *Side note:
I've had my camera for about 4-5 months now, and I am currently going through some problems with the rear camera.
My camera from time to time comes out all broken for the rear. (Either with the switch or in reverse gear)
It doesn't happen a lot, but enough to bother me since it's affecting the OEM rear camera.
There has been a time when I couldn't back up and had to pause for a bit. (had a full load in the back blocking the view)

I've contacted Trail Grid Pro which is who I got it from and currently waiting on a reply. Checked all wiring and grounds already.

Check the RCA cable of the added system, especially the solder to the pins of the relay. If you have them flopping around like most do, instead of securing them, you'll get issues.

I took apart the switch to see how it worked and was able to come up with a modification to get each FRONT/REAR LED to work independently. You need to cut a trace on the PCB and solder in a diode.

Here's my instructions on how to do it: https://timee1994.weebly.com/anytime-camera-switch.html

    End Result:

Tim, thank you for your work on this. I always thought the lighting on the switch was wrong.
