My stainless was way better, but it took me a bit to get it dialed in and I didn't do much of it at my last job compared to MIG.

oh I don’t have one! I just see a lot of other tools on here other than one. Did a few jobs for work in places that had some serious ones and was just curious. Maybey they cost a lot or something?

I would love a press brake, and it's on the shopping list.

Specifically the Harbor Freight 20 ton press and the SWAG Off Road press brake kit.

Space is a limiting factor and I'll invest in one when the work requested requires the use of one.

I haven't seen anything posted recently that shows any press brake use though?

Man, honestly, doing precision tig with a strike start is not worth the headache. I started my exhaust with a cst280 from work and it was so damn frustrating. Got the primeweld and my welds were really decent right off the bat. Primeweld sells refurbs for 500 if you want a direct number for the guy there. I got a plasma and it was brand new in all new packaging for 420 shipped. @Kwikvette turned me on to them and it was the best tool investments I have made to date.

I’m surprised nobody had made like shock towers or bumper/skid plates etc. things like that that places manufacture. At least not that I have seen I’ve been reading this thread for over a year

Plenty of people make all that stuff, normally for themselves.

It isn't hard to just cut several pieces and just weld together as needed.

Plus it's a lot cheaper doing so as well.

I have the HF/Swag press brake setup. Added casters to it to move it around the shop. I use it often enough but sometimes it’s just easier for me to score/bend/weld if I’m just doing something quick.

Yeah I was going to add this to the "being cheaper to just cut/weld" part.

For someone like me, who's only used a press brake maybe a handful of times in his life, I would hate to cut out a skid from a large sheet with all my holes and cut-outs only to fuck up and have my bend half an inch off my target because I measured incorrectly.

Of course this would come with experience, but I'd rather cut and weld as needed.

I need to go to your house again one of these days so we can catch up and talk shop!

Oh and, do you have the finger brake kit or the large one piece?

    Always contemplating between the two.

Do you need multiples of something?

Right now I'm messing with 1/8" steel as I haven't bought metal in awhile.

But if you do need something replicated a few times, just let me know and I'll get something cut for ya.

I'd like to have the SWAG finger press, but damn they want more than twice what I paid for the press for that kit.

Na, you know what i need. 1 offs of everything basically. Kinda want a light bar mount (no bend/tube to light) single dimple die hole (I can do) though. When Im done with front bumper if you have the time, maybe ill send you some tube to light dimensions.

Next time you’re in the area, hit me up! Yes, bending plate has a slight learning curve but it’s a lot more forgiving than say bending tube where your overall dimensions could be affected by the bend radius and what not. It’s very easy to get comfortable with it quick. I use it more often when I’m making multiple repeated bends. Probably use my press mostly for my dimple dies than anything else.

I have the single large piece. I don’t really make a lot of complicated brackets so the extra cost wasn’t worth it to me. Besides, that’s when I can just score and weld the bends.

Yeah, I already assumed it'd be a lot harder when bending tube. As much as I want a tube bender, I'll hold off until I *really* need it

@eon_blue and I are supposed to meet up around March, as we're trying to find the time and place to go wheel/camp before the baby comes. If it's out towards your guys' area I'll definitely let you know as we haven't figured that part out yet.

My brain does not like the bender for some reason. Need to get that under control.
