Had this pop up and kept giving a warning for a 50 mile trip and wasn't working...however after several stops after that trip, the message went away and it seemed to be working again.

First I've seen this so it may just be a problem with mine that I need to get checked out. My 5k schedule is next week so I'll mention it then.

The BSM error code should be stored in the computer. Have the dealer perform a system health check and they should find the code.

Mine popped up with "Check Blind Spot Monitor" within a month of owning the truck. They ordered and changed the drivers side monitor (Master Module) (updated part number also) and it's been fine ever since.

Have a peek at the BSM sensors in the corners of the rear bumper. If there's any mud, rocks, or other build-up there, clean it off before taking it to the dealer, otherwise they may try to blame you and charge ridiculous money for a recalibration of the units.

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
i had that pop up for the first time the other day, but it went away after the truck was off for a while.

0210 just made me think about that was right after i took the rear mud flaps off! im positive i threw some mud back there it popped up right after i got on some pavement from mud!

guess i will need to put the flaps back on or cover that part of the bumper

My bumper was frozen over with about 1/8-1/4 inch of ice. It gave me this error. At my destination I broke up the ice on the bumper with my hand. Came out of liquor store, drove home without the error.

Had my passenger BSM sensor replaced at 1,500 miles...There was not an error or code, but it didn't work 80% of the time. Took it to the dealer, they "could not replicate the problem"...I made them a couple of videos to watch and called corporate, and they replaced the sensor...Works 100% of the time now...I have a Limited that never sees mud, so I know it was not contaminated...

No mud or anything...just the usual build up from driving around in winter conditions. It was working again with no cleaning so I'm confident that isn't it but good tip, washed it a few min ago so they don't try to go there. My service adviser is pretty good...don't think it will be a fight.

Every time I go to the beach it happens. So I just take it to the dealership and get one of their cars for a day or two untill they have the time to recalibrate it.

I had the same issue with mine this morning. I stopped and turned the truck off for a minute but it didn't fix it. I will be taking it back to the dealer soon.

I did. Just took mine in for the 10k service and they realigned it. It's working fine now. Time will tell. If it's going to die, I hope it does it before the 36k warranty is up.

Mine says "BSM not available." I have an appointment with the dealer this Friday. Hopefully it is a simple fix. I checked for mud, no mud, sensor equipment looks pretty clean to me.

I have a 2017 TRD Pro. The message I got was "BSM not available", similar to brownmound. My problem started not long after I got my truck. It would randomly not sense cars in the blind spot on the passenger side. Turning the system off and back on usually fixed the problem for a while. Then the passenger side quit working altogether and shortly after I got the error message saying system was not available. When I took it in to the dealer all of the monitors checked out okay. They had me come back in when they could call and talk to Toyota tech. The second time what they ended up doing was a recalibration. It worked okay for a while, but now is hit or miss again on the passenger side as to whether or not it senses a car in the blind spot. I'm thinking it may just be a matter of time before the system error pops up again. This is damn frustrating...this is not rocket science. And before someone asks, no mud, no ice...I keep my truck pretty clean all the time.

Mine stops working when snow builds builds up sometimes. But comes back as soon as it melts away.

Any of you guys with issues maybe got some mud stuck somewhere maybe? Shouldn't be an issue though seeing as how they advertise these trucks in mud and sand lol

My 16 threw this error randomly soon after I tool delivery. Cars passing on the right would trip the error. Toyota replaced the rear right BSM sensor and the issue has not reappeared.

i had my system fail completely on the highway to visit family just under my 10k mark. i made an appointment on my way back home after a few days. i checked for debris and loose wires. i couldnt find anything wrong. it said that the BSM system failed and when i took it to the dealer they did a system check and couldnt find any issues and cleared the code and went to recalibrate the system and it started working again once they cleared it. they said to bring it back and they will recalibrate if it happens again but since then there has been no issues.

I went to the dealer to get it fixed, and it started working on the test drive! They said it probably still needs calibration, but it seems to be working so far, so I am reluctant to have them mess with it.
