anyone with firestone airbags experiencing slow leak?

I installed air bags several months ago. Boy, are they awesome. I'm experiencing very slow leaking. Over a few weeks I lose 5 psi in them. anyone experience the same thing? What should I do?

 

Find the leak. Use a spray bottle with some dish soap and water. If it's a threaded fitting use Loctite 545 thread sealant.

 

Spray all connectors and fitting with soap diluted with water, I personally like it a little thick.

 

Lots of soap in that water.

Mine leak super slowly. I just check them from time to time when I fill up with fuel. Even though I have on board air, the gas station is easier - the hose and chuck are ready to go.

 

Do you have both bags teed together or separate? I have had the T crack before and leak.

 

Not Teed together.

Can I pull the air hose out the the fitting and reseat them?

 

Yes. push the hose in and hold the fitting down. It'll come right out. just pushing it in further may fix the leak. These things are notorious for slow leaks. I've had them on 4 trucks and all have had leaks where I lost a few pounds every month. For the record, I only installed one of the kits personally. Two of the kits were professionally installed. In the manual, Firestone even states that slow leaking can be common.

 

Those fittings are shit. They're easy to use, but they are junk!

Brass fittings and high pressure tubing is moar better.

God dammit do I really need another project on my truck...

Yeah, my friend that helped me install the bags said the fittings are garbage but OK since its such low pressure.

I'll try and reseat them this weekend. The leak is slow so not a real big deal

Mine lose a little over time but I only pump them up when I tow something heavy and that's maybe once every couple of months.

 

Had them on my 1st gen Tundra for almost 10 years and on the Taco Pro for over a year....no leaks on either set...they are tied together with a Tee and usually running about 10psi. Put a bit of air in them every few months as they will go down without a leak just like a tire.
