Anyone use the TPMS gauges from a Maestro iDatalink?

    I’m tired of dealing with replacing sensors on the TPMS system and I was about to just disable the system completely so I don’t have to see the dash warning light, however I just got a headunit and the Maestro/iDatalink so I can retain steering wheel controls. I have the admit, the thought of having the TPMS gauges on my headunit is super appealing. However I’m also aware the positions need to be reset with every rotate, and it seems like some people have issues. For those that use it, is it worth getting new TPMS sensors for or should I just ditch the whole system? Also how does it work with a full size spare that has a sensor?

    The TPMS through the idatalink/maestro is more useful than just the warning light on the dash. In addition to tire position, you also get temp and PSI. Relearning position is easy through the head unit. Just select position relearn in the maestro menu and follow prompts. Takes 5 minutes. I can’t speak about the spare tire/TPMS as my spare doesn’t have a sensor. I would assume the system notes the spare TPMS location regardless if it’s used in rotation or not. I also have an Autel TPMS scanner for changing out sensors and doing relearns and the Maestro/head unit will perform the position relearn faster/easier than the dedicated scanner.
    Is it worth it? For me, absolutely.

    I also have the Maestro RR and it works with TPMS. As mentioned you can read the pressure and the temperatures which is sometimes helpful - like when towing, or aired down off-road.
    I also have an Autel TS508 for doing sensor things outside of that. It is finnicky when reading the OE style Denso sensors but it can do the re-learn.
    I also have TIS TechStream for doing other diagnostics stuff. Using that I can manually program TPMS into memory if needed. More importantly it shows what can be programmed.

    Don't quote me but I believe sometime after like 2009 the ECU stopped allowing for the spare TPMS to be programmed into memory on the 2nd gens. Don't know why, you'd have to ask Toyota about that one. I have not tried using the Maestro "relearn" function as I didn't know it existed before this thread, but I suspect for me it won't work since I have the sensor in my spare. Right now I do it by rotating the tires and praying my Autel hand scanner reads them properly, then I do re-learn via OBD2 port.

    I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind getting new TPMS sensors unless there is something wrong with your current sensors. The Maestro device is just doing the interface via OBD2 back to your ECU and reading the sensors already programmed into the system. No need to change things. But yes when you do a rotation you may have to re-learn the positions using one of the methods we mentioned here. Your spare won't show on the screen but that's fine.

    Since there's a live thread going, has anyone with an '06 gotten a Maestro to read TPMS at all? Mine won't register the system and I can't seem to find any workarounds

    Mine is an 06 with a maestro connected to a kenwood HU and it's just as TacoJoeBro describes, temp and pressure.

    Do you see all the other OBD data? If so I'd go over to the forum section of their site and see if there's more help there. I didn't have to do anything special outside of connecting it up and I flashed it right when I got the unit as they recommended. It just worked along with the other functions at the start. I never knew the TPMS on that '06 would report temps till I connected that up. I would also ask does the tpms sensors work?

    I've got coolant temps, RPM, etc so as far as I can tell OBD is working fine. Guess I'll head to their forum and hope for the best
