I like the idea of ditch lights, but really hate how fussy all the multi-cube pod options look. Just not for me, though I'm sure they work great.

I came across these cleaner looking ditch lights on the 4Runner forum. They seem to be also popular on F150s and Tundras, but maybe are too big for Tacoma? I dunno. Pricey units, but sleek. Just wondering if anyone has tried these out?

I’m in the same boat. I would like to see more angles, and the picture shows them on a 4Runner. Pretty expensive to just take a chance and buy them.

Yep. The clones were aight. Especially for their price. Which are now dirt cheap(I'll have to peruse eBay and find them again).. Idk how they compare to the real deals though. But they worked pretty nice. I eventually sold them though because they just didn't really add any more lighting over my other lights. But running them as an only set of lights works well. Again not sure how the vision x brands hold up. Very few people run them because they're just so damned expensive!

They now make an 'XP' version for the 4.5" cannon with upgraded 40watt led vs 25watt iirc. Which I doubt you'll be able to find clones with those. Then there's the 6.7" larger cannons, which I think is where it's at with 50 watt leds. I almost swapped out to those.. But they's BIG. Especially for ditch lights, heh.

So Idk. Take a look and see for yourself. It might be worth it depending on the look/lighting you're going for, or it might be better to go with something a little more unique like those modular pods. There's even some 4.5" vision x cube pods(clones) that look nice. And they have four 10 watt leds in em with the sweet optics that are utilized in their evo prime line. @Blackdawg is running those still I believe. Maybe hes got some output pics?

Have you looked at the Rigid SR-M series lights?

Got a buddy obsessed with vision-x, he tells me all the time how they're designed to run in SPACE. I guess that's why they're so expensive. I like the round look but I'm more inclined to run Baja Designs (available in round!). Price is fair, lights are amazing.

Edit: Lightforce lights are pretty snazzy, also available in round.

Baja makes a far superior product to Vision X, trust me...

    Especially when they sponsor you.

I’m all for opinions and experience, but if you’re going to recommend a company and they’re helping you out, you should be up front about it.

I think you're misunderstanding. I'm not recommending them because we carry them at the shop, we carry them at the shop because we can recommend them.

I'm still quite obsessed with them. Even being clones they're still awesome lights. If I could afford the real deals I would run those. But, baja designs definitely gives them a run for their money and id run those too. Especially since theyre more active in the community, and come out with newer products more often than vision x seems to.

For the price and light output I cant see these as ditch-lights.

They are good long range driving lights but too much for a ditch light.

If you dont like the multilight cubes check out KC Flex Singles. You can double them or more. I'm running the singles for ditch lights.

    http://www.kchilites.com/industry/off-road-lights/flex-single-led-system-pr.html

On par in price with every other top manufacturer.
