Need new tires, and I’m looking these for my Off Road? My local shop has them for $174 mounted, balanced, disposal. I drive 90% interstate and the balance on my construction sites. I want enough bite in snow and rain with durability for miles.

I have no first hand knowledge of these tires other than good experience with other Sumitomo products. At the price you found them I would purchase.

Pretty sure that is just a Falken tire with another name stamped on it

I have very limited experience with them, but havent seen any issues on customers trucks.

The 3 peak rating is a pro, price is decent too. Not my first choice, but not a bad choice.

I actually think it is the other way around - Sumitomo makes Falken

Highway driving with good snow and rain performance are not the strong suit of an AT tire. There are far better tires for that kind of application

I’ve added the Hankook Dynapro AT2 as another opinion, comments welcome ? It seems like a better highway tire? Maybe

I had these on my Tundra…loved them and they wore forever - put 30k on them before I sold the truck - great tire. I felt like they should have been better in mud (I’m old and don’t mud but when I backed into an old wet, muddy and goopy roadbed hunting I felt like I should have been able to get out in 2wd - now I refuse to gun it and sling mud all over the truck and all that bleep anti spin technology)…but I’ll tell you this…can’t beat BFG’s…really like the Toyo AT3’s but for the money and long lasting wear (they had great manners on the road wet or dry) - you cannot beat the Sumitomo Encounter tires - at least for me.

I have Nitto Terra Grappler G2's and they look and drive great and are fairly quiet for AT tires. I haven't had them long enough to give opinions on the rest.

Not sure who owns who but they are a great tire (both brands) - saw some Falkens on a 4runner and they looked more aggressive to me - looked sharp.

The Sumi’s are good on my Tacoma. Gas mpg is negligible from the Michelins and the road noise is more but not bad at all.

They do look a lot better and I was able to get in and out of a ditch hunting easier than I did with the Michelin Defenders (although the Michelins are a GREAT tire - just expensive) - weight, load carry, etc. is almost the same with the Michelins.
