If this is already a thread I apologize, still learning my way around the site... but is anyone running 33 inch tires with 16 inch wheels? Or is this something that is not common or a bad idea? Pictures if you are would be nice. Thanks

I have a 2009 with 255/85r16 Cooper ST-MAXX. The speedometer is pretty off, gas mileage was unaffected, accelleration and traction are good and they just barely rub the front fender liners and cab mount.

    Not great pics sorry lol

Pictures are great. That’s a beautiful truck. What does C rated mean? Haha I’m young and new to all this which is why I ask so many questions.

The letter rating is the load range. The higher the letter, the stiffer the tire and the higher the load it can carry

The button in the top right of the page that says alerts, under it is a search button. If you go there and search for any topic you can think of, there might be a good answer. I don't mind answering questions, though. I normally just Google and type my queries on the search bar and and it with site:tacomaworld.com so Google filters all the results to only tacomaworld posts

It’s the load rating of the tire. C rated tires have 6 ply sidewalls while E rated has 10 ply. Long story short, the E rated tires will be heavier and have a stiffer on road ride. The benefit of E is that they’re stronger off road and can be aired down lower without worrying about it because of the extra strength.

If I switch to 33 inch tires, do I need to change my stock rims? I have 17in rims.

No, slightly different tire size. I think it's still 255 width (mm of width) but the aspect ratio is 80 (80% of 255mm, the height of the sidewall). Check out the threads that are stickied above in the tire section and it'll teach you a lot, man.

I can't remember from your videos, but did you rub with that width?

I rubbed big time but that's more because the wheels have 3.5" of backspacing.
