Anyone replaced a door, how difficult is it to take off and reinstall a new one?

My front passenger door was totaled a few days ago and I’ll be going to a picknpull lot tomorrow to get a replacement door. I’ve searched TW as well as google for written tutorials and/or YouTube videos but am not finding anything. Every link I find is how to remove the panel, not the door.
I found a lot that “claims” to have a front passenger door, and I’ll be going there tomorrow afternoon to grab it, any input/advice/guidance or applicable how-to links would be much appreciated, thank you!

It seems to be fairly straight forward.
    Remove the door panel.
Disconnect the wiring harness from the power locks, window and mirror.
Fish the harness out of the door.
Remove the 2 door hinges and check.

Bolts connecting the hinge to the door look like a moderate pain in the ass, but it all looks straight forward to me. Undo electrical, pop off the rubber conduit, fish it all through. Undo the door stop, then have a friend Hodor it while you unbolt the hinges.

    Reverse sequence to install.

I'm waiting for the inevitable slam door before checking alignment.

And then after alignment is fixed, there's the classic close it before verifying that the latch cable works.

I say have a friend help.
That way you have someone to blame stuff on when it “doesn’t work out”?

Any consideration on how hard it is to change the lock?

Good luck with your repair considering the circumstances you are facing.

I haven't done a Tacoma door, but have R&R'd doors. They are not that bad, unless maybe you're working on a 1972 Buick Electra 225 2 door, or similar, with the 5' long 100 lb doors. A friend is nearly mandatory to help if you're working at home. Floor jack with a short piece of clean 2X4 on the pad. 2" blue 3M painter's tape around the opening and the new door. If there is a way to take some rough measurements for the hinge placement WRT to something on the existing door, do that. When you install the new door and tighten it into place, trace the hinge location onto the door with something like a grease pencil, sharpie, whatever, so you can gauge how much you've moved it when you adjust it.

If you have an engine hoist or something to throw a rope over, it'll save a lot of effort.

I'm assuming the door won't be the same color as yours, and you'll need to get it painted. Get 1 or 2 estimates from body shops close on the cost to paint and install the new door. I'm sure it would be easier for them painting the door on a stand, then installing it after.

Painting it will be the hardest part. Straightforward otherwise especially if someone is helping you
