Anyone molding the sail panel for their tweeters ? Toyota screwed the pooch placement of the tweeters on the dash! Imo they should be within 12"s of the mid bass driver , not bouncing off the glass. A pillar mounted not a good idea "airbag" under them. Cutting door skin ouch! Appreciate any feedback from people that understand audio in a vehicle.
    Thanks

I installed my tweeters in the bottom corner of the a pillar (triangle piece). I used the factory mounts that came with my speakers, which limited my options in regards to direction. I'll post pics tomorrow and more details about the install.

Cool thanks . Been thinking about this as the dash mounts were designed for a mini mid not a tweeter.

Just an aside, I agree that the corner under the glass is not the best place for the tweeters. But tweeter sound is often underestimated. I replaced them with the Subaru factory tweeters that use the same brackets and component connections as our Tacos. They were like $90 for the pair online. It was an easy install and replace, and the sound improvement was massive! They sound really good. The Toyota speakers are kinda garbage. Also, don't let your dealership talk you into the JBL upgrade package if you get a new Tacoma. The factory speakers bad as they are, sound better than the JBLs in my humble opinion.

Ditto on the Subaru's (made by Kicker). Huge improvement!

HUUUUGGEEEE difference. Tweeters can really make or break the system.

    Agreed !
I also installed these in the front door: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_206KSC6930/Kicker-44KSC69304.html?tp=91 and the sound is righteous! And of course they are $30 cheaper now...

In addition, I installed these in the rear door:https://www.crutchfield.com/p_206DSC6704/Kicker-43DSC6704.html?tp=78072 and that was a waste of money. They add very little sound. Oh well, overall I am happy with the sound!

Same here. I just went ahead and made my own brackets with pipe straps.

When installing in the sail panel, be sure you are right between the two clips so it will fasten back into the frame without modification. Here are my Hybrid Audio tweets mounted in a ball mount so they could be swiveled into the cab in my '17.

What is the blue stuff you used to secure the tweeter? Did you just disconnect the factory tweeters? That's a pretty sweet setup.

There were no factory tweeters in that location so had to cut my own holes. I used a hole saw to cut the circle so that the body of the tweeter would sit in the sail panel. Then using a heat gun I warmed up the sail panel plastic to "flatten out" the plastic where the tweeter would sit (The sail panel is curved and needed to be flattened out). Then used hot glue to secure the tweet to the back of the sail panel.

Looks great. Do you know how big the diameter of the total tweeter mounting is, including the swivel mount? Trying to gauge the distance between the clips. Thanks!

Different manufacturer tweeters are going to be different sizes. For my Hybrid Audio Clarus tweets I used a 54mm hole saw attached to a drill. The info packed with your tweeter (or manufacturer website) should provide dimensions on diameter needed to flush mount your tweet.

Thanks. I measured and my tweeter should fit comfortably between the clips. My main question is how deep of a tweeter can you flush mount in the sail panel before you have to build it out. The tweeter that I will be installed is almost an inch deep, so I'm not sure if it will fit or not. Thanks.
