I just ordered my 3 inch lift and wanted to know who has put 35s (besides toytec they have body lift as well) on the trucks... i know i've seen people claim you can put 33s on stock suspension but if thats true then 35s with a minimal trimming should be possible... just wanted to see who had done so and what problems you are having if any as well as what trimming you needed to have done. also anyone with 33s on a 3 inch lift did you have any modifications that needed to be made.

    *edit*
i know the suspension from 2nd to 3rd gen is similar; however, it is not the same so redirecting to 2nd gen forums ultimately doesnt help me. also while the 3rd sits about an inch higher then the second and ive heard between 1-3" needs to be cut from 2nd gen then that could potentially drop to 0-2" depending on tire/wheel.. no offense to 2nd gen users but being a different truck (no matter how slightly) i really want input from those with a 3rd gen that has done this

yes. lots of trimming required. 2-3" cut out of fenders/body, big cab mount chop, pinch weld mod

Tons of trimming. My 33's rubbed like a bitch.

I have 34's on my 4Runner and they took some major trimming too.

please realize im talking about a 3rd gen tacoma not a second therefore anything second gen will be irrelevant considering you can supposedly run 33s on stock suspension without trimming on third but cant on second

It's the same. Very very similar. You CAN run 33's on a stock 2nd gen too. it will rub like a motherfucker when you turn your wheels, but thats it. You'll have to trim the cab mount and weld a new piece in for 35's guaranteed. They are on the same frame.

2nd gen and 3rd gen are same frame and same suspension

wrong the suspension in the 3rd sits about an inch higher they are very similar however not the same which is why i ask this question to 3rd gen owners not to say they dont need the same fender trimming but i feel the 3rd will be different in the amount needed. as for body mount trim I had already taken this into consideration just mainly wanted to verify on anything else

Haha yes all that you said is true. All I'm doing is answering your question. A 3rd Gen with 3" of lift WILL rub with 35s

and i appreciate the response I figured id have a bit of rubbing at full extension but i'm more looking at total, also i'm not trying to bash anyone but when i had my 2013 with 3 inches and 285/70/17 (basically 33s) on stock wheels everyone said oh its cant be done without trimming, which i found was a lie... which is the main reason i want 3rd gen users who have done so to get an idea

I plan to mount my 33 inch baja mtx on my 3rd gen tacoma, and i heard 3rd gens are 1 inch higher than previous tacomas, i was wondering if i lifted my 3rd gen with 3inch will my 33s still rub and need trimming?
