I know a bunch of 3rd gen Tacoma owners have sold to Carvana recently, but how about purchasing through Carvana? I found a car that I'm interested in that can be delivered right to the house. However, I'm leery of buying a vehicle I've not inspected or test driven. Also, are prices negotiable with Carvana? Not even sure where to start with these guys.

Customer of ours got a odyssey through them. Already bought and I did an inspection after purchase. Very rusty and needed about 1500$ of real repairs. We dont like rusty cars here in NC.

I would advise against. As a technician and a car lover.

If you can’t test drive it & inspect it then it’s a big no no. Don’t even think about it. Start to find that truck from a real person or dealer in your state or region  Good Luck & be patient it will pay off!!

I would agree with the above two posts personally. I wouldn’t buy a car without seeing it and test driving it first.

That being said, a close friend of mine bought a car through Carvana last year and had a very good experience.

I heard nothing but bad things about carvana when it comes to purchasing. Maybe Carmax?

Got my 21 pro from them. Good experience overall. You get to drive the car for a week and up to 400 miles. You can return it with no questions asked within that week for a full refund. Prices aren’t negotiable tho.

My GF bought a Cherokee through them, delayed, delayed, delayed. She was too patient, I finally stepped in and asked for some sort of documentation of it’s whereabouts, when none could be provided she had to get bank credit back. When I say “delayed” I’m talking 6-8 weeks. The photos were allegedly of actual vehicle, not the stock photos (like they had a deal and didn’t have actual possession of vehicle).
I might use them to sell, not buy.

I bought my Tacoma from Carvana, no problems whatsoever. There was a few minor cosmetic flaws and they took care of it right away at a shop of my choice. You get a week/400 miles to test drive it, they don't even process your payment til after that week is up. They also give you a 100 day warranty so if you take it to a mechanic and have him go over the car and they find anything wrong Carvana will fix it.
I had zero delay getting my registration.
Yes, there are people that had issues but it was a great experience for me

Many states are pursuing legal action against Carvana right now. They have not been providing vehicle titles, all the while taking customers money for the purchases.

Tons of documented stories about this issue. (Give Google a gander)

    A bunch..and no build thread!
One of the kids bought her car from Caravan and we sold a car to them. Good experiences both times. Daughter reported a scratch on the bumper a week after she got the car and they sent her a check for $800..lol

I bought my low mileage 2019 Taco from Carvana just before the pandemic lock down bullshit happened. If I recall, you have a sufficient time to check the truck out and return it if necessary just like Carmax. My experience with them was very positive, but have heard that Carvana has lately had serious issues that caused their stock price to plummet.

PS: buying a used car is always a crap shoot regardless of who you are buying it from.

I just picked up a 2019 type r from them. Almost 2 weeks ago. They actually had the best deals around on that car.

It was delayed one week due to some registration paperwork is what I was told but it did show up on the new date they provided. I did a thorough walk through of the car, and accepted it.

They give you 7 days/400 miles to return the car & supposedly they handle all the axes tags and title paperwork for you, so we’ll see.

Going to hold off on Carvana for now and go with a certified preowned if I can find one. Real hard to find a late model subcompact daily driver at a decent price right now.

I bought my truck from Carvana and was pleased with the experience. You can't beat the 7-day return policy for any reason (which I've done with a Chevy Colorado). I've also never experienced the registration issues that the media have been talking about. I also bought a GTI from them. I received my reg and state license plate within TWO weeks. For California, that's record speed. Lol.

I've sold to carvana with no issue, now buying I have no experience with them. One thing that I would like to point out is that the majority of their cars are from rust belt states and retitled in AZ. Check the vehicles history when purchasing from them.

Got my 2018 Short Bed Off Road w 18k miles from them 2 years ago. Only really went with them cause I luckily found what I was looking for with them as I had been searching locally for a few months Did not use their financing, ended up going with Bank of America. Overall I’d say the experience was 6/10, not great but not the absolute worst. Purchase, delivery, and customer support was actually not too bad. The only issue I had was with receiving my plates as it was during COVID. Ended up taking around 3 months to get my plates, but unsure if that was due to COVID delays or not.

IMO if I could do it all over again, I’d perfer to purchase locally, especially with the way things are going with Carvana financially along with the horrendous horror stories on Reddit lol

    FUCK CARVANA.

ITS A PONZI SCHEME RUN BY A FELON. THEY LOSE 1600 PER COPY. THEY OWN THE BANK, TELL SHAREHOLDERS THE INTEREST IS INCOME, MEANWHILE BUNDLE THE LOANS AND SELL THEM AS CDO’s. THEYRE ABOUT TO LOSE THEIR LICENSE IN 7 STATES FOR NOT PRODUCING TITLES. BEWARE.

Dig into their shareholders prospectus. Company is garbage. They were almost done but the pandemic saved them.
Carmax on the other hand is a well run company founded by one of the smartest business people of our era.

Obviously, people do sell good cars to them, but also they buy all their cars with no inspection and they have overpaid for the last year. People were buying junkers to purposely sell to carvana at a profit.
The odds seem high to get a lemon, but I guess it is OK if you have the time to keep returning cars until you find a good one. It seems they always honor returning the car if you dont like it.
I guess in the end you cant trust a normal name brand dealer either with selling a good used car. So at least you can return with carvana. A normal dealer will hide behind as-is and just laugh.
