Amsoil MTG is also a GL-4 oil, so is Redline MT90.
This was an issue in older cars since GL5 has extra EP additives that can degrade metals used for synchronizers.

I have never had an issue using the above mentioned.

Edit: i saw you were looking for a part number.
    08885-81026.
I tried to buy this once and its not commonly stocked at dealers. They just use whatever gear oil they have available most of the time.

I actually asked about this oil earlier today in the MT BS thread. That part number came back on a couple of Russian websites and is marked as GL-4. I wonder why Toyota would recommend this oil if it's not even for sale here.

It’s been discussed ad nauseam here.

You can use any GL4 75W90 MTL fluid. I’d suggest a top of the line synthetic for smooth shifting, flows at well below 0F, lasts a long time, etc.

Redline MTL is cheap as $15, so for $45 do it yourself it’ll last 60K+ miles, or more.

Yes its well known the Redline MT-90 fluid promotes smooth shifting, but long term transmission durability is a question mark (MT-90 smells and feels more like automatic transmission fluid than gear oil) as is the long term lubricant leakage issue. I used it for awhile in an 1989 5 speed Corolla transmission and a minor seepage leak developed fairly soon afterwards that eventually turned into a steady garage floor staining leak. So I was forced to return to a conventional non-synthetic gear oil and live with less smooth shifting.

It can happen on used transmissions where seals are starting to degrade. If you change to synthetics early on, you’ll never have a problem including seals. Just from my experience.

Called my dealer today about purchasing manual transmission oil. He says they only stock it in large bulk drums. I asked if it was original OEM fluid and he said yeah. As of now I can only take his word for it. I suggest you call your dealer and ask them about purchasing this oil from them.

+1 I have used Amsoil fluids for years and have had great luck with it. But any high quality GL4 synthetic will do.

Amsoil is what my Toyota dealer uses for all differential and tranny changes and sells it also. They don't even stock the genuine Toyota stuff.

    I'd go with MT90.

But also another + vote for redline. It's a fantastic product that I've been running in all my transmissions for quite a while.

Yes it is. I went to the dealer to get genuine Toyota differential and transfer case fluids and they said they would have to special order it they don't even stock it.

I also plan on having the truck for a long time. I just did my second change of ALL the fluids two weeks ago.
