Anyone know a shop that'll rent the lift/bay out?

I know this is a long shot, but are there any local shops that I can rent out the hydraulic lift for a few hours? I'm sure it's again most insurance policies, but maybe there someone out there that allows it. I'd like to be able to stand underneath my 4runner to give it a much-needed scrubbing. I had a few leaks and the entire undercarriage is absolutely caked with oil and filth. I could probably lay under it, but that would take a few hours at least, and if I could stand under it I could probably have it done in 45 minutes.

A good friend of mine has a lift in his garage but he lives about 2 hours away, and I doubt my 4Runner would even make it there right now.
Ideally I'd be looking for a spot somewhere near the valley.

I know of co-op motorcycle shops that you pay to use their tools and facilities, but I think you have to pay a monthly fee as opposed to a one time deal. I’m sure there’s something similar for car shops.

There used to be car clubs that did this sort of thing, way, way before my time. At least that's what I gleaned from various novels and movies set in the 1950s.

Whether any are still around, I don't know. I'd love to know. Honestly it would be fun as shit to fix up an old project car while a greasy old fart in a yellowed wifebeater criticized my every move.

You'd be better off going to a self-car wash that has a sump so you can clean an engine for example and bring a mat to lay on and get comfortable. Get the car warm hit it with simple green and spray it off. Simple green does wonders with oil caked up. If there are places to rent they probably won't allow you to wash the undercarriage.

Yeah, That's another issue, is they probably don't want me washing it in there. But to be honest, I was planning on some heavy elbow grease with rags and not much water. I wiped some the other day when I was underneath and it actually comes off.

If your friend will let you use these lift you could rent a uhaul and a trailer to tow it over there.

Yeah I think I might just have to do that. I'm going to hate sitting in 4 hours of traffic but it's probably easier than finding a shop.

There was a guy on fb that hit me up that mentioned he rented out a lift. Think he delivers it. Its probably a little pricy but if you want I’ll look for his info

I know it's out of your way, but if you're ever down in San Diego there's Gearheads garage in Oceanside, $35/hr for a lift and tools.

My dream Garage..or Your Dream Garage. It’s in Baldwin Park, I’ve been there 3 or 4 times over the years for installs. Lifts and every tool you’ll need. Like $25/hour I think. Highly recommend
