Saw this pop on Instagram -- his Insta has more videos and pictures of the products than the site. Wanted to see if anyone has installed in their pickup? Wish the 3rd gens came with something like this rather than the crappy touch screen!

(I'm not affiliated and don't vouch for anything -- just got targeted ads for it and wondered)

So you got some random link sent to you on some social media platform and then you posted here. Have you checked this for any viruses or any other silliness that goes on these days?

Looked them up after getting an ad for them -- not clicking a random link messaged! But basically!

Unless you're running a super outdated browser or are just accepting every download and executing it as root or admin there is quite a low risk of visiting a webpage. They might pop a ad or tracking cookie on your browser like literally every other site -- definitely don't visit Instagram if you're worried about that!

Pretty hideous even for period correct. If it were me I'd keep the factory face and install a hidden head unit like they use in most classic cars.

Definitely not as good as factory face -- IMO way better than just about every other h.u. though (I do like the blaupunkt ones)

Would be good I’m a late ‘80s or ‘90s Firebird or Camaro, or same period Mustang. Not so sure about a Tacoma.

If my VPN warns me that there are viruses then I'm going to believe my VPN.

Don't want to derail, but a VPN doesn't scan for viruses! You may be using an antivirus with a VPN built in? That is mighty trusting of the company selling you antivirus, though!

Anyway -- you be your own judge of risk. PCRisk webpage scan says it looks OK. I wouldn't "buy" through it and provide CC or additional personal info without knowing more.

I'm assuming this is more likely to be some china-made dropship grift. Just didn't know if anyone on here had any interaction with them previously and knew otherwise since it seems like sometimes there are small businesses doing niche stuff with crappy sites.

    Sweet Tripod website.

So basically this thing is a piece of shit. Probably Chinese AF with the cheapest audio components available. Literally zero specifications listed on the website.

I vote run away regardless of how strong your nostalgia is.

I can beat that. Back in the very early days of MP3 devices, they used to make an MP3 player in the shape of a cassette tape that held about 8 songs. You could pop it into a cassette player and it would work. I took that, plugged it into a KRACO cassette to 8-track adapter and played MP3 songs on my 8-track player. Should have taken a picture. To make me seem even older....my 8-track player was Quadraphonic. I think I still have the cassette to 8-track adapter.

it's all about effort, combined with a little pre-planning.

i migrated the reverse camera up to the rear view mirror, so the only thing i really 'lost' was the settings tab of the head unit that talks to the BCM for headlight auto-on sensitivity, the headlight 'follow me home' on-time, and beeper loudness. all of which i preset to my preferred settings before yanking the oem unit anyways(i believe aftermarket techstream software will give me these options back without the facotry head unit). mph/kph, deg-C/deg-F adjustment was also in there, but is adjustable in the gauge display, so didn't count it.

this was 1 of 2 major factors in how i specifically picked the 3rd gen. my first rule in vehicles has always been that i need to be able to drive the car for a month without the radio installed.

it means that the car isn't reliant on the head unit for anything other than entertainment purposes (unlike for instance, GM vehicles that like to integrate the turn signal relay into the head unit, or tesla, that i can't even operate the hvac system without their proprietary head unit display).

the second factor is that my garage is clearance-limited, that immediately ruled out any full-size trucks of any make unless i immediately lower the truck...

I like it personally. OP don't let these imbaciles get you down about their lack of tech knowledge. Viruses from Instagram? VPN protecting you? Ffs.

If there were a way to mod my 99's factory radio to do Bluetooth and receive HD radio, and upscale the quality all around, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

As others say, I'd worry about actual quality with lack of specs listed.

On a single DIN related note I installed a Porsche PCCM into an E30 BMW and it fits in pretty well. It is horrendously overpriced but you gotta pay for that Porsche part number somehow.

Nakamichi was always a perfect fit on e30s, color fit perfect. They were just so hard to find in good working condition.
