I didn't do it for the "offroad" look. I did it because it was just too much quicksand for my liking. I also did the front bumper, grill and rims. I may end up doing the hood and roof too one of these days. Not sure yet.

I was considering wrapping the flares and front bumper in satin vinyl. Another option if you're not a fan of plasti-dip.

Personally, I would do this and never plasti-dip. Yes plasti-dip comes off easily, it also comes off easily from weather, driving conditions, car washes, etc. Do it right, have them painted, get vinyl on them, or replace them. You will end up doing that anyway when it looks like cancer.

I just taped off the areas and dipped them right on the truck. I heard the clips have a tendency to break and didn't feel like finding more. Took a little extra time to tape off but still pretty quick and easy.

When applied correctly, dip is very durable. I've been using it for years on many different cars and trucks. My jeep rims were done for two years with tens of thousands of off-road miles. Still looked just fine. I pressure wash my vehicles and never had it come up. Had it on for many Upstate NY winters and now one full Colorado winter. I've never had it peel without intentionally peeling it off. To the people that says it will come off easily, they did it wrong.

Wash the parts, clean with acetone and spray 4-6 coats. You'll be fine. Been to Moab almost every other weekend for months now, did an overland trip from CO, clear across Utah, been out in the Wild every weekend since I dipped the Tacoma and none of the dip is showing any signed of peeling or wear.

Have fun and if you don't like it, it peels right off.

I may get my hood and roof wrapped in flat black vinyl. But, they want $300 to do it locally and I'm not really sure I'm going to like the hood done. I may spend the $100 and get a gallon of dip and the gun to spray it. This way I'm only out $100 if I hate it. But, having about 25 black vehicles so far, I highly doubt I will hate adding more black to my, "not black" truck. My brother in law dipped his whole mustang with the dipyourcar gun and it's been on for over a year in upstate NY. It still looks like the day he sprayed it. IE, murdered out and awesome.

    yea no your 100% wrong.
Plastidip is VERY durable. I have pressure washed it. my old Mustang I dipped the wheels and over a year of use and washing and scrubbing with wheel brush NEVER one issue or chip. My grille on my truck has been dipped for a year with ZERO chips or anything. Maybe know what your talking about instead of posting BS stuff you made up in your head to give other wrong information.

Anyone done this on a black truck? Wondering how that would look. If mine wasn't black I would definitely dip the flares. The contrast looks good!

3+ years and the dip still looks Outstanding. No issues/problems

Plus I can easily go back to stock if I ever decide too!

Agreed. Plus if you do hit a rock or tree and damage the dip, you can peel it off and have it redone in minutes. Plasti dip is pretty amazing for the $5 per can it costs.
