Does anyone have pics of a dog crate in the back of a double-cab? I'm trying to figure out if a plastic vari-kennel for a GSD will fit in the back of a double cab with the seat folded.

A crate large enough to accommodate a GSD probably wouldn't be able to fit through the door with the seats folded down. But why would you put your dog in a crate inside the cab?

I bought one of these backseat hammocks (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produ...&subref=AA&ref=6111&cmpid=01csegb&kpid=100627 )before I even adopted my first dog. It lasted about a year before the backing started to peel. but for $20 I'm okay with replacing it every year or so. It's saved my seats from sand, mud, pee (when he was a puppy), and barf. It's payed for itself many times over.

My GSD has a habit of gnawing on interiors and trying to climb my head. I have a Vari-Kennel in the back of my 98 4Runner, but am looking at buying a 2015 Tacoma.

you might be able to fit the kennel if you build it inside the cab rather than trying to fit it through the door built.

A Large Vari-kennel fits easily, but I haven't tried an XL.

Sorry, unfortunately I dont. My trucks in the shop or I'd throw the kennel in and snap a few. I just know the large fits easily. Not sure about an XL crate.

    I decided to go measure my Vari-Kennel. I believe it's the XL (70 to 90 lbs dog). The dimensions are 40" x 27" x 30."

Here is a pic of my current setup in my '98 3rd Gen 4Runner.

My guess is that's going to be too big. My large is 24 wide and 30 tall. I'm not sure you could get 27 wide through the door. I'll have my truck back from the shop in the next day or two so if knowone chimes in in the meantime I'll check.

I use the hammock thing like you posted, plus doggy seat belts. Both of mine like to try to sit on my lap while I'm driving (full grown coonhounds) so the seatbelts keep them safe and off of me

Before we had two car seats in the back I would fold down the seats and tie the leash to the latch the seat back connects to. This would prevent our GSD from getting into the front seat. Maybe this is an option.

I fit a Large Vari-Kennel in the back easily.....only rubbed a little on the trim putting it in & removing it. I put it on passenger side so I could still keep driver's side seat intact.

If there's a Pet store nearby, just go there and ask to do a dry fit. You may need to simply assemble the XL inside the truck. What's the dog weigh? There should be just enough room for the dog top stand & turn around.....don't want it too big.
