Anyone have a solution to keeping dogs in the back seat?

Got 3 dogs that stay in the truck, but need to stay in the back seat, especially when I get out of the truck.

I really don't like the look of the cloth nets, but if that's my only option I'll do it. Was hoping to find a bolt on divider solution that would utilize the seat bolts in the floor, may just have to make one.

If you have any better looking ones than on Amazon's dog barrier search, I'm up for suggestions.

Shouldn’t be too hard to make with some hog panel and aluminum from Home Depot

    Take out the Front Seats?
Dogs are kind of like kids, you can’t give them too many options.
Take out the Front seats, they’ll have to use Back seats.

Seriously though, I don’t have any idea.
I actually did see a guy use a plexiglass setup in a Suburban.
And yes, the seats were not in the back. He had 3 German Shepherd.

Where do you live? Camper shell and a carpet kit if it fits with your needs are great for the pups

My truck bed is 100% full. 2 toolboxes and an air compressor. Camper shell won't do unfortunately.

I do like the simplicity of the hog panel with aluminum concept, but was hoping for something slightly more..elegant.

They don't try to get in the front when I'm driving, at all, but when I get out to work on something one of them IS getting in the front and trampling everything.

I gotta be that guy that points out that it’s unsafe, irresponsible and illegal to leave pets in the truck when you get out. I hope you don’t mean they stay in the car longer than it takes to run into the gas station for a big gulp.

I did the dog bed platform in my 2ng gen and I have carabiners on the two back rest latch hooks, I have one of these on the carabiner, my wifes car we use it as designed clipped into a seatbelt buckle. Our dog always wears a harness and we attach to that. I dont know how it would work with three dogs since they would easily get tangled up, hell our dog gets tangled every now and then just by herself.

I had a close call yesterday, a jeep pulled out in front of me in traffic, full tires screeching nearly swerved into oncoming traffic life flash before my eyes kind of close call. Took me a second to realize that my hand was still on the horn after the truck came to a stop… Really scary, and not just a close call but a wake up call, makes me realize that I’ve been living a lie thinking that I’m just getting away with it for now having one of my favorite passengers riding around in the truck with me not secured whatsoever with a proper safety harness. I would be devastated if anything happened to him and it would be my fucking fault. Of course the pup slammed into the dashboard, I hate to think what would’ve happened had that jeep pulled out a second later and I didn’t have time to stop before slamming into its front bumper… And my airbag was set to auto so it would’ve deployed…

Anyway he’s not allowed to ride in automobiles anymore without a safety harness, bought one on Amazon right after that happened.

Says it’s crash tested. Dog is fine btw no signs of injury and we were on our way to a 1 hour + hike and he didn’t seem shaken up at all, I tried to maintain calm so he wouldn’t be traumatized by the incident.

Might be overkill for a comment on keeping your dog in the back seat but as a plus one of the complaints of this harness is that it’s restrictive of movement so it would definitely accomplish that.

Just please if you are reading this don’t wait to get your dog safely secured before his next ride in the truck, if it only saves one dog and one owners heartbreak it’ll have been worth writing. /rant over

edit: Also my wife has this in her car, halfway decent deterrent for climbing over coupled with training, would probably work better between the front seats of a taco because it’d be a little higher up and you wouldn’t need the dogs to be strapped in when parked! https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07B47D3WY?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image

If they’re not restrained to the back seat area while driving , they should not be be in the vehicle. I’ve seen plenty of accidents caused by loose dogs and the unpleasant site of what a dog looks like when their face uses the front windshield as it’s stopping point. There has to be some some sort of panel that could be made to fit from floor to ceiling. Like in the police canine units.

In under 15 minutes the inside of a vehicle can reach a deadly temperature even if the outside temp is only 70*. Just sit in your car in the sun for a bit and you will get the idea. Dogs don't perspire they pant and when the air is hot they can't cool off.
In many states including ours it is legal to break out a window in a car if you can't locate the owner and the dog looks distressed.

I also restrain my dog, I have a friend that is an EMS first responder, he says one of the worst part of his job is dealing with injured and killed pets post MVC’s. I have two different setups, one is a dog seat strapped through the seatbelt, and the other is a seatbelt strap. He is connected to the straps with a dog harness.

Yeah pretty sure I’m az its legal for anyone to break your window and let your dog out. bad story’s come out ever summer about dogs left in hot cars. I personally just roll the windows down if I have to stop while my dogs in the truck or car. She’s well trained and will just sit there and not jump out 70lbs American bulldog btw

Guys, I don't leave them in the truck with it turned off. I appreciate the concern but I promise the dogs are always safe and cool. I will be the first to admit I'm a dumbass, but that ain't one of the reasons why. A harness also isn't gonna happen.

A barrier like the K9 units use is what I was aiming for. My thoughts were to get a panel and use the bolt holes the seat uses, and come up to the roof (or nearly) and tie into the headrest pegs to secure it up top. I just figured somebody might have a solution to my problem, that's all. I feel like y'all are focusing on the wrong thing here.
