Looking to pick one up at Dick's, not sure if the box will fit or if I need to borrow a landscape trailer.

No, but Home Depot rents trailers for dirt cheap. Less than $100 for 4x6? I think for 2 days last time I rented.

Edit: They also rent their trucks for like $50 an hour or whatever the going rate is. Less risk than using your own vehicle.

What size is the box? If it’s one of the folding tables I can’t imagine you couldn’t get in into a Tacoma longbed. If you have the short bed, then I see your concern. Just be sure to use lots of tie down straps so it doesn’t end up sliding out the bed as you’re cruising down the road.

I imagine different tables will have different sized boxes. I just looked on Dick's website and they list the packaging dimensions. Below is an example, likely isn't the exact table you bought. As long as your bed isn't full of other stuff and you don't have a topper on it then I don't see why you'd want to bother renting a trailer. A couple ratchet straps and you should be good to go - short or long bed.

    SPECS
    • Table Dimensions: 108”L x 60"W x 30"H
    • Storage Dimensions: 32"L x 60"W x 62"H
    • Playback Dimensions: 70”L x 60”W x 62”H
    • Packaging Dimensions: 63” L x 58” W x 6” H

Gave me a flashback. Last time was getting one home from Best Products, not Best Buy.

Last time I was in a Best Products was a sad joke. You shop for what you want, pay at the register, then stand in a room with a conveyor belt coming out of the ceiling. Everyone has that dead at the dmv look on their face. Upstairs we hear laughing, carrying on, then wrestling. Someone finally goes to complain, a manager goes upstairs then back down. Now here comes the stuff. Not down the conveyor. Instead flying out of the hole in the ceiling, crashing to the floor. Sometimes it’s obvious why a business goes under.

I moved one with my long bed, just used ratchet straps. Was only about 10 minutes away though.

Really need to know short/long bed and the packing size though

When we moved we sat our old folding ping pong table out by the road for free. We looked out and some guy was putting it in an old Ford
Explorer. Don't ask me how he got it to fit, it shouldn't have, but he left with it.

Thanks for the info guys, I have a short bed with a soft topper that I can fold back. I'm only about 10-15 min from the store and can go back roads but they are pretty curvy.

Got a used one from a friend. We took it apart and it fit fine. Probably could have doner it assembled and folded, but I originally thought we were going to be putting it in our Sienna...

Lay the box across the bed rails and off the back. Tie it down. If a truck can't find a way to haul a ping pong table then it's just a car with a little bed

Nice and easy. Fold your topper back. Lay it in diagonally. Ratchet straps galore. Drive it home, unload, have fun.

Something I like to do when I have a questionable load. Once it’s strapped down and I think I’m ready to go, drive forward brake hard, drive backwards brake hard, recheck everything is still tight. Pull away, drive side to side slightly, pull over and recheck. It’s better to be able to retighten when you can instead of on a road you can’t stop realizing it’s come loose and about to fall off.

A wise piece of advice for any load IMO

Yes, I helped my cousin pick up one from Academy last year- it was a lot heavier than my old table (145#s looking at Academy's website). I have a shell on the back so we just rolled the cart up to my utility trailer, offloaded it and strapped it down and took it to his house. We opened the box on the trailer and got the pieces as we needed them.

The box would have fit in the back at an angle if I didn't have the shell but I'm glad we laid it flat. The table on most of them are fiberboard and chip or crack fairly easy if you hit them wrong.

It seems as though I've stumbled across a thread for car owners and not actually one for truck guys.

I ended up getting a Stiga table that folds up like folding tables from Dicks. Box slid right in the back of the truck no issues at all.

Ping pong tables should have wheels, tow it home.
