I’m looking for another key fob for my 2016 Tacoma and Ace Hardware advertises this service.

Has anyone here used an Ace for this? Comments?

I’m trying to avoid the dealer.

If not an Ace, any other suggestions?

    Thanks.

I used Ace to program the fob that I bought on Amazon.
I am able to cut my own keys as well, so they only charged me $25.00 for that.
If they do everything it is substantially more.

I would suggest an independent automotive locksmith. That's what I did with excellent results. In the area I live the dealers all use these independent locksmiths, they don't do it themselves.

I bought a key fob for a 2007 toyota corolla from ACE and works just fine.

Cannot comment on Ace Hardware, but the same question was recently asked and answered...

My bare bones SR uses a key start. Are extras available any place that cuts keys? I need one before I lock myself out.

2nd gen here, I bought a remote on Amazon and programmed it easily to the vehicle. For copies of keys I found a local automotive locksmith who do it all, he can even decode a lock cylinder and cut a key based on that and program it to the car. One annoying thing I noticed with aftermarket remotes/key fobs are the button cell batteries seem the be subpar and I've had to replace them within a few months.
OP if you say where you live people may have recommendations of the local locksmith.

Ace hardware services depend on the particular employee. Some are excellent, some not so much.
