Right, a guy on youtube had an issue with a dorman part. We've all had issues with some type of part. This just shows that a guy on youtube had an issue with a part. Nothing more. I'm not defending dorman. Don't care if anyone likes it, buys it, or loves it. Point is..for every 1 educated answer on this forum there's 1000 bullshit posts to sort though.

It's well known that Dorman parts are garbage.

If the part you need to replace is easy enough to get at and it is free or inexpensive enough to try, why not? I must qualify my position here... I do enough business with my O' Reilly parts house that when I return the part(s) and say they they are junk and do not work I either get a refund or a replacement and I am out only my time. If this was an internet parts house it is a huge hassle and an even longer wait plus I am out the return shipping. Each situation is different.

Just read through the carrier bearing forum. If that isnt a testament to using only OEM parts, I dont know what is. EVERYONE who uses a doorman oe solutions bearing has it squeak within 5000 miles.

I think by your 1 to 1000 rationale, that you're spending too much time in the 3rd gen section.

I just had surgery and can't leave the house. I'm spending too much time on the forum period.

Lol. Every time someone tells me not to put too much money into a 17 year old truck I’m gonna point them to this forum.

what did u have to do? Mine has a small leak (previous owner said its about a 1/4th quart every 3,000 miles) in the rear main seal. put some ATP at-205. most mechanics didn't think it was worth the 6-$800 in labor plus the possibility of causing more damage by opening things up.
