Anyone Else Into Old School BMX

Only new school so far. Like the piece of mind that my chain is adjusted and won’t self adjust with a bit of riding

 

I went for a ride today. Thought I was gonna die! Damn gearing

 

A story for the people paying attention. Me and a couple of friends rode everywhere at all hours of the day and night. One night happened to be my most embarrassing. We pulled up next to a car full of high school girls, a few years older than us. We were in the grass on the side of the road and I hit a hole about 2 foot deep and face planted while they were in a car at the red light. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

 

I felt the same way the other day. Came home and flipped my rear wheel, it’s much better now

 

Why is there a sprocket on the other side?
Had a self adjusting mishap or two. Sucks!

 

Boy does this thread bring back memories as a kid. I still have the last BMX I rode as a kid(late 80s-early 90s), GT Dyno in that fantastic green flake paint. I'll have to take pic and post it up.

 

For sure. I just wish I had that bike to give to my son. I remember I worked and saved for over a year to earn $ towards it. It was my pride and joy when I rode it home for the first time

 

Are those rad caps

 

It has a different size sprocket on both sides for quick gearing changes without having to carry a spare wheel.

 

No just some generic caps I picked up off eBay

 

My 1st Factory Team was CW. Hated the bars. I raced with Diamond Back bars at my local races. Only raced my CW bars at Nationals when I was with the team.

Here I am racing against Mike Luna who was a Factory JMC rider. I was up and coming and Mike was the number 3 rider that year.

 

My Dad went thru some bad times dealing with my mom so my racing career ended in its prime when I was 14 years old. A lot of SoCal guys I grew up with made it to AA Pro and even switched to mtn biking. I raced Pro in the NORBA Circuit as a Privateer when I jumped from BMX to mtn biking. I was one of the 1st guys racing on the east coast with West Coast BMX skills. Man I use to fly down mountains and dual slalom courses on my hardtail cross country bike with just the seat post lowered.

I added those to my Predator..though I was about the same weight back then, I've built up leg muscle and can torque the wheel if I push it too much

Nah, flip flop hub. More common on racing bikes.

I guess I haven’t figured the quote thing out quite yet. Yea I’m about 190 and if I step on it it can pull. I didn’t want to have to over tighten the axle.
